Aces Hold vs Kings; Not the Way You Think!

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The under-the-gun player limped and Omar Ghefur raised all in for 172,000 on the first hand of the day.

It folded to William Ritchie who three-bet all in for around 350,000. The limper folded and cards were turned over.

Omar Ghefur: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
William Ritchie: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

It was a huge confrontation early on Day 2 with Ghefur looking good for a double.

The board ran out {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} giving both players quads. However, Ghefur's ace kicker played and he doubled up.

Jelinek Sends Bell to the Rail

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Steve Jelinek

Steve Jelinek limped in the small blind and Kieran Bell checked his big blind.

The pair checked the {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and Jelinek bet 8,000 on the {k-Spades} turn.

Bell called and the pair checked the {4-Diamonds} river. Bell tabled {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} but Jelinek had it beat with {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of eights.

A short while later, we spotted Bell getting to his feet having been eliminated by Jelinek. The former GUKPT Coventry champion held {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} on a {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs} board for a flush.

Clark Eliminated in First Bubble Hand

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

With 1,002 players remaining there were two players all-in on the first hand of hand-for-hand play.

In the first, Martin Clark was all in and at risk holding {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} against the {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} of Dale Macchiarelli.

Clark was ahead for now and the flop came {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}. However the room erupted into cheers after the {a-Diamonds} came on the turn.

Clark needed to hit one of the remaining two jacks in the deck, but the river was the {4-Clubs} and he was eliminated.
