Sweet Start for Karrim

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

South-African player Ahem Karrim has made his way to the M Resort for the Hollywood Poker Open Championship, and he's already off to a good start.

A player raised under the gun to 250 and Karrim called on the button after which both blinds folded.

The flop brought out {10-}{9-}{8-} with two spades and the initial raiser bet 475, Karrim called.

On the turn the {5-Spades} hit and Karrim called another 850. The river completed the board with the {7-Spades} and now the initial raiser checked and Karrim threw out 1,475.

Karrim's bet was called and he quickly tabled his {6-Spades}{3-Spades} for a six-high flush. Karrim's opponent mucked and the South-African player's already up to 40,000 chips.

Smith and Geilich Join The Fun

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

The field is slowly but surely swelling up and we just spotted two more top pros take their seats.

Ludovic Geilich - one of the most animated young players out there - is back for more after busting out late last night, and he looks to be happy with his table so far. Geilich burst onto the scene with a final table in EPT London when he finished fourth for $313,482, and a win in the UKIPT Marbella event for $171,790 that same year.

Earlier this year Geilich won the Wynn Classic Championship for $150,662, and at the M Resort this weekend he'll be looking to add to his $1.1 million in live tournament earnings.

Canadian pro Elliot Smith has $1.6 million in live tournament earnings, his biggest score being a third-place finish in the Aussie Millions Main Event for $497,258 back in 2009.
