Alsup Binks a Lucky Triple

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Rich Alsup
Rich Alsup

Rich Alsup shoved in his last 106,000 from early position and a player a couple of seats over reshipped for around 130,000. Eric Salazar jammed as well covering everyone from the button and he turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} when the blinds mucked. Alsup had {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and the third player held {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

The {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop brought a flush draw for Alsup. The {6-Clubs} was the brick sought by Salazar but a {9-Diamonds} arrived on the river to give Alsup new life.

Cerminara Doubles Through Raghavan Before Break

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Frank Cerminara
Frank Cerminara

In one of the last hands before break, Frank Cerminara and Ravi Raghavan were all in on a {7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop. The money was already pulled into the middle so we didn't see how much the all-in of Cerminara was worth, but he was at risk.

When action was complete at the other tables, Cerminara flipped his {7-}{7-} for a set and Raghavan showed {q-Spades}{7-Spades} for top two. The board ran out {3-Spades} and {2-Diamonds} and Cerminara doubled up.

Players are on break for 15 minutes, still on the bubble.

Pupillo Wins Flip With Ochana

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Nick Pupillo
Nick Pupillo

Brendan Shiller opened for 13,000 in middle position, Nick Pupillo made it 40,000 on his left and Eddie Ochana ripped in from a couple of seats over for about 115,000. Shiller folded but Pupillo quickly called and tabled {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Ochana had the overs with {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} but was left wanting on the {9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Spades} runout.

Welcome to Day 2 of 2019 HPT Ameristar East Chicago Main Event

HPT Trophy
HPT Trophy

At long last, the time has come for the eliminations to be final and the field to be whittled down toward a winner. After four starting flights, Day 2 of Heartland Poker Tour Ameristar East Chicago $1,650 Main Event is here.

Out of 570 entries, 96 were able to punch tickets to Day 2. They'll all combine under one roof for the first time here Monday and play until an official final table has been reached.

Plenty of the Midwest's finest poker players are among those 96. While chip leader Brendan Shiller and other big stacks Craig Casino and Nadya Magnus are in good position, they'll have plenty of competition from the likes of Nick Pupillo, Josh Reichard, Aaron Johnson, Keven Stammen and Kou Vang, among others.

Day 2 play begins at Level 16 (2,500/5,000/5,000) and continues until all but the last nine players have been eliminated. Unlike Day 1s, levels will be an hour apiece now.

Cards are scheduled to fly at 11 a.m. local time here just East of the Windy City. Keep an eye here on PokerNews to see who will emerge as the last nine contenders.
