Krier Check-Bombs the Flop

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

There was 5,200 into the pot from preflop action as action was checked to the player in the cutoff who had bet 3,200 and was called by another player in early position.

With action back on Matt Krier in the hijack, he shoved all in for around 26,500. The cutoff folded and the player in early position went into the tank for a bit before folding as well, resulting in Krier taking down the pot on the flop.

Groner Doubles Through Wosk

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Mark Groner was in the process of having his remaining 28,900 counted for the double he head earned with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} on a board of {4-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Spades}. Still tabled was Ryan Wosk's second-best hand of {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}.

According to Groner, he had opened preflop and received a few calls. He then continued with a bet of 3,000 after flopping middle set and Wosk raised to 8,000 before Groner shoved and Wosk called.

When the runout finished, Groner found himself with a set of nines and had secured the double while Wosk now nurses a shorter stack.

Englert Picks One Off

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Action folded to the player on the button who opened to 1,100 and received a call by Mike Englert who defended his big blind. The two saw a flop of {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} and Englert check-called a continuation-bet of 1,100.

The turn was {q-Diamonds} and Englert checked. His opponent continued again for 2,100 and Englert stuck around. The river fell came {j-Hearts} and Englert checked once more. His opponent emptied the clip, firing a third barrel for 4,100. Englert picked up chips to call and then put them down onto the table in front of him to complete the action.

His opponent tabled {6-Hearts}{5-Spades} for a missed flush spade draw and Englert showed {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for aces up and took in the pot, adding to his stack which now is around the 70,000-mark.

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Chris Tryba
Chris Tryba

Chris Tryba may have been in a vehicle leaving Las Vegas 20 hours ago to make the 12-hour drive to Colorado but that didn't stop him from making it to the Golden Gates Poker Parlour for Day 1a of the HPT Black Hawk this afternoon.

The Massachusetts native with a cabin in the Denver area is always a fun figure to have in any poker room and will be looking to find a big score in Black Hawk after a summer that saw him finish in sixth place in the WSOP $10k Seven Card Stud Championship for $40,066.

Cole Wins at Showdown

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

With limps from middle position and the player on the button before him, Brooks Cole completed his small blind. The big blind then raised to 1,600 and everybody called.

The four players saw a flop of {7-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Cole checked. The big blind made a continuation-bet of 2,000 and the players in middle position and on the button folded. Cole then called, bringing the turn {10-Clubs}. Both players checked. The river came {a-Spades} and both players checked again.

Cole tabled {q-Spades}{j-Clubs} for a pair of jacks and the big blind flung his cards forward to the muck.

Mangold Wins Pot With Top Pair

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Jason Mangold limped from under the gun and the players in the hijack, on the button, and in the small blind all joined the party. The big blind then raised to 2,300 and everybody called, taking action five ways to the flop {4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

The small blind checked and the big blind made a continuation-bet of 3,000. Mangold called and everybody else folded.

Action then went heads up to the turn {3-Hearts} and the big blind fired another barrel for 3,000 again. Mangold called. The river fell {6-Hearts} and both players checked, taking the hand to showdown.

The big blind showed {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of nines and Mangold tabled {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a pair of tens which was good to take in the pot and Mangold now finds himself with over three starting stacks early into Level 4.
