Mader Finds Help on River To Double

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

A player in the cutoff raised to 1,500 over limpers from early- and middle position and Phl Mader shoved all in over the top for 7,400 from the button. The two limpers folded and the cutoff made the call.

Phl Mader: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Opponent: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Mader found himself in a coin flip situation that saw his odds decrease as the dealer brought a flop of {3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades}. A turn {4-Spades} gave him extra outs to a wheel on the river but they were unnecessary as the {j-Hearts} fell to give Mader a pair of jacks and secure the double.

Allen Kessler

Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler arrived in Denver on Friday afternoon fresh off his first career WSOP Main Event cash and has made his way up the mountain to Black Hawk and into the Golden Gates Poker Parlour, having just left the registration desk and taken his seat at the table. Always a personality at the table, Kessler is certain to be a player that will have both eyes and ears on him as the day unfolds.

Andrew Peragallo
Andrew Peragallo

Andrew Peragallo was recently seen at a new table and took down a small pot, three-betting over a raise and a call and getting folds preflop. After being eliminated shortly before the final break of the night in yesterday's flight, he is hopeful this shot will be the one that gets him through to tomorrow's Day 2.

Simoneau Gets River Fold

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

A player in early position announced a raise of 1,000 as he put in the matching chip and action folded around to the small blind who called. Ryan Simoneau defended his big blind to take action three ways to the flop {3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}. Action checked to the original raiser and he made a continuation-bet of 1,600. The small blind folded and Simoneau called.

The turn was {8-Clubs} and Simoneau led out for 2,500. His opponent called. The river came {6-Clubs} and Simoneau bet out again for 6,000.

His opponent went into the tank for about two minutes before letting out a groan as he folded and wishing Simoneau a nice hand.

Smith Doubles Through Ferrari

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

A player in early position raised to 1,000 and Jonathan Smith three-bet all in to 9,500 from middle position. Reid Ferrari was on Smith's left and called after receiving confirmation of the total and everybody left in the hand folded.

Reid Ferrari: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Jonathan Smith: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The two found themselves in a classic coin flip situation and the dealer brought a flop of {3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

"That flop is all you," Smith said to Ferrari.

The turn changed the tides, however, as the dealer flipped over the {a-Hearts}. Ferrari now found himself needing two outs and was unable to find one of them as the {7-Diamonds} fell on the river and Smith secured the double.

Itoafa Finding Piles Early

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Mike Itoafa raised to 1,800 from the cutoff after one limp from a player in middle position. The player on the button called, as did both Allen Kessler in the small blind and the player in the big blind.

"Five players," said the dealer as he fanned a flop of {j-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Action checked to Itoafa and he threw in a bet of 10,000. Less than 10 seconds later, he had received four folds and the pot was sent his way.

With a stack of around 139,500, Itoafa finds himself as one of the chip leaders as the tournament enters the middle levels of the day.
