Gurung Sniffs Out Sablotny

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

HB Sablotny raised to 20,000 in middle position. Action folded to Gyan Gurung in the big blind who called.

Gurung check-called Sablotny's bet of 40,000 after a {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop. Both players checked the {9-Diamonds} on the turn.

Gurung bet 20,000 after the {q-Spades} came on the river. Sablotny raised all in. Gurung called with {k-}{j-} and got the double up.

The Luck of the Irish

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Joseph Stretch
Joseph Stretch

Hand-for-hand play had just finished due to the bubble bursting.

When tournament director Jeremy Smith announced that all remaining players were in the money, Joseph Stretch was extremely happy and his tablemates were also happy for him.

The reason was because Stretch was now in the big blind for his last remaining 12,000 in chips.

Once play resumed Tim Burden raised to 25,000 from the UTG+1 position and was called by Ryan Gregor in middle position, which created a side pot.

Burden and Ryan checked to the river on a board reading {j-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, and Gregor tabled pocket tens to take the side pot.

Stretch then turned over {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, for a better two pair and tripled up, which made everyone even happier.

Did Mangold Bluff and Run?

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jason Mangold
Jason Mangold

We caught the action on a board reading {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and a lot of chips in the pot.

Jason Mangold had put out a bet of 100,000, which sent Josh Mullins deep into the tank, saying "Sorry guys."

He thought some more, closed his eyes, opened them and looked over at Mangold and then slowly released his cards.

Mangold then asked if Mullins wanted to see, and when he answered, "Yes," Mangold tabled {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for king-high.

He scooped the large pot and was then immediately moved to another table.

Vang Absorbs All of Vance's Chips

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Tim Vance
Tim Vance

We missed the elimination of EPT4 Copenhagen champ Tim Vance, but Kou Vang, the man who sent him packing, was kind enough to fill us in on some details after the fact.

As he told it, Vance opened for 16,000 UTG+2 and Vang flatted from the hijack. Ryan Tepen came along from the big blind and it was three-way action to the {k-}{10-}{4-} rainbow flop. Tepen checked, Vance bet 21,000, and both his opponents called.

Two checks on the {j-} turn saw Vang bet 49,000 and Tepen folded. Vance then check-jammed for 200,000 and Vang snapped him off.

Vang: {a-}{q-}
Vance: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Vance had turned top two pair but the same card gave Vang Broadway. The river failed to fill Vance up and he hit the rail a few spots shy of the money.

Meanwhile, Pauly "Walnuts" Bianchi was also eliminated from the tournament.

Hughes Doubles Through Blythe

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Preflop action folded around to Rick Blythe on the button, and he raised to 18,000.

The small-blind player folded, John Hughes shoved all in from the big blind for his remaining 84,000 and was called by Blythe.

The players then tabled their hands.

Hughes: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Blythe: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, which gave Hughes a better two pair and secured his double up.
