"How do You Like that Flop?"

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Timothy Burden opened to 8,000 from early position and was called by the cutoff as the two players went heads-up to a flop of {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Burden continued for 7,000 and his opponent called to see the {k-Hearts} on the turn.

Burden fired out another 15,000 and his opponent chose to stick around for the {10-Spades} on the river. Burden slammed in a bet of 50,000 and it didn't take long for his opponent to pay him off. Burden tabled {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a full house and his opponent mucked his cards.

"How do you like that flop?" another player on his table asked Burden. He responded with a little karaoke session while he stacked his chips.

Pupillo Brothers Out

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

In just a matter of moments, Nick Pupillo and his brother James were eliminated in a timely fashion to bring the tournament down to just four tables on Day 1b. Nick ran into pocket kings in a preflop all-in situation which left him following his brother James out the tournament doors.

Radcliffe Finds a Late Double Up

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Players were out of their seats on Table 57 and after arriving at the table, a completed board of {q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} was spread across the board. Matthew Radcliffe was fortunate to have the winning hand with {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} against his opponent's {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}.

Radcliffe was the player at risk for a little over 100,000 and secured himself a vital double up in the last level of the night. With just 30 players remaining, it will be a dog fight to see who can bag chips in the last 20 minutes, knowing the money bubble looms on Day 2.

Timothy Burden Talks His Way to the Chip Lead on Day 1b

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Timothy Burden
Timothy Burden

The second flight of the Heartland Poker Tour $1,100 Main Event has concluded after another 12 hours of hard-fought poker. After the full 15 levels were played out, Timothy Burden accumulated 417,000 chips, enough for the chip lead on Day 1b.

Burden went on a late run in the last three levels of the night on the heels of flopping a full house. Burden managed to get paid on all three streets and surged to the top of the leaderboard in the final few hands. The Kentucky native brings a special vibe to the table and often the number of words coming out of his mouth goes hand-in-hand with the number of chips he's stacking.

Burden has over $215,000 in career earnings with the majority of his cashes coming on the HPT. He already has one HPT Main Event final table this year in St. Louis and will be looking to reach another one this weekend.

Some other big stacks moving on to Day 2 include Justin Webb (360,000), Hae Yim (343,000), and Angela Shade (314,000) who could barely keep her eyes open for the last few hands of the night. Shade was fortunate enough to spin up a stack from around 30,000 to over 300,000 after the last break of the night.

There was expected to be a larger turnout today as the weekend approached and the day started out strong with 45 players taking their seat when the action got underway. That number continued to grow at a rapid pace as players filtered their way into the ballroom of the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. By the time late registration drew to a close, there were a total of 172 entries, bringing the running total to 262 thus far.

The tournament directors couldn't be happier with the guarantee being reached and the largest flight still yet to come. By the time the players reach the money on Day 2, they could be playing for nearly a total prizepool of around $500,000.

A lot of the big names fell by the wayside throughout the day including Greg Raymer who took a seat on the sidelines before the first break for the second day in a row. Joining him was Jake Bazeley, Craig Casino, Brad Sailor, and the Pupillo brothers (Nick and James). They will have one final chance to find a bag for Day 2 when the final flight kicks off Saturday at 12pm.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back tomorrow to bring you all of the live updates from the tournament floor.
