Quads Matter For Matter

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

"Quads!" Christopher Audrain, runner up at last month's Season XV $2,500 HPT Championship, said as we did our latest rounds of the tournament floor. The man who held the quads in question, Michael Matter, shared the details of the hand.

Matter raised to 5,000 on the button, and found callers in both the small blind and Christopher McQuiston in the big blind.

The small blind checked a {4-}{4-}{j-} flop, and McQuiston bet 6,000. Only Matter called.

McQuiston check-called a bet of 10,000 on the {10-} turn, and a blank fell on the river. McQuiston check-called Matter's 25,000 all in bet, only to muck after Matter tabled {4-}{4-} for quads.

Kenniston Nearing 300k; O'Neill Ousted

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Mike O'Neill
Mike O'Neill

A player raised to 6,000 from under the gun, and Gerald Heath called in middle position, as did the cutoff. David Kenniston three-bet to 87,000 in the big blind, and the under-the-gun player called off his last 76,500. Heath and the cutoff folded.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
David Kenniston: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Kenniston's kings held on a {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} board, and he scooped in a big pot to jump to near 300,000 in chips.

On the other end of the spectrum, Mike O'Neill lost the last of his chips to Sam Vizza.

David Moses
David Moses

David Moses got his last 36,000 in on a {3-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} flop, and was at risk against the small blind.

David Moses: {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Moses pinned his tournament life to the flush draw, and he picked up a few extra outs on the {6-Clubs} turn. The {10-Diamonds} river hit Moses's flush, and he doubled up.

Ditrapani Dented by Underwood

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Chris Underwood jammed for 30,000 from under the gun, and Nicola Ditrapani made the call in the small blind.

Chris Underwood: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}
Nicola Ditrapani: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Underwood had to wait until the river of a {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} board to pair his kicker, and he doubled up.
