Jeff Copeland Wins Event #10: $300 6-Max for His Late Father

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Jeff Copeland

All eyes may be on the $1,650 Main Event here at the Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) Hollywood St. Louis, but one of the feel-good stories to come out of the stop actually took place on Wednesday night in Event #10: $300 6-Max NLH, a tournament that attracted 143 runners.

Among those to cash the tournament were Keith Heine (5th - $2,042), Terry Stuhldreher (7th - $1,477), and Tyler Hazlett (9th - $1,094), just to name a few.

Meanwhile, poker pro Nick Pupillo, the reigning HPT Player of the Year, proved to be a force to reckon with at the final table, where he actually made it to heads-up play against Jeff Copeland.

For Pupillo, he'd have to settle for second place as the day belonged to Copeland, who took down the title for $9,847.

Copeland was complimentary about his heads-up opponent and explained why the win was so special.

Rennier Leads and Succeeds

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jeffrey Schroeder raised to 2,500 from the button, and Thomas Rennier called in the big blind.

Rennier check-called a bet of 3,500 from Schroeder on the {5-Spades}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, then check-called a 5,500 bet on the {4-Clubs} turn.

The {k-Hearts} fell on the river, and Rennier led out for 13,000, which cause Schroeder to lean up out of his chair for a moment. A minute would pass before Schroeder elected to let his hand go, sending the pot to Rennier.

Thornton Pads His Lead

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Christopher Audrain raised to 3,200 from the hijack, and was called by John Thornton in the cutoff and Ryan Tepen in the big blind.

Action checked to Thornton on a {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, and he bet 3,500. Tepen folded, and Audrain shook his head before showing his {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} as he folded. Thornton responded by showing the table the {10-Diamonds} before pulling in the pot.

Tepen Rips It

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Eric Seiler raised to 2,600 from under the gun, and Ryan Tepen called in middle position. Vincent Moscati three-bet to 7,800 from the button, and Seiler called.

Tepen tanked for a minute before four-bet shoving for 42,500, which sent Moscati into the tank. He folded after a minute, and it was Seiler's turn to tank.

Three minutes ticked by before Seiler said, "Okay, I'll believe you," and folded.
