Koeln Bets and Wins

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

John Thornton raised to 1,500 from under the gun, and was called by Gerald Claunch in the cutoff, Mark Koeln on the button, and Christopher Audrain in the big blind.

Action checked to Koeln on the {8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop, and he bet 6,000 into the pot of 6,900. All three of his opponents quickly mucked.

Pupillo Back and Building

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

Joseph Brose limped in from middle position, as did Mark Koeln on the button. Nick Pupillo raised to 2,500 from the small blind, and both Brose and Koeln called.

Pupillo led out for 3,500 on the {10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop, and that did the trick as both Brose and Koeln folded.

Stahr Dusted By McKuin

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante
Catherine Stahr
Catherine Stahr

Vincent Moscati raised to 1,200 from the hijack, and Catherine Stahr called on the button. Michael McKuin three-bet to 5,300 from the small blind, and Moscati folded. Stahr, who had just 4,300 at the start of the hand, called off her remaining chips.

Catherine Stahr: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Michael McKuin: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Stahr picked up a few counterfeit outs on the {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop, but improved no further on the {8-Spades} turn, and the {6-Diamonds} river sent the remainder of her chips over to McKuin.

Thornton Takes a Big Chunk From Claunch in Two Hands

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

Hand #1:

With 45,000 already in the pot, John Thornton checked a {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{a-Spades}{3-Clubs} board from the small blind, and Gerald Claunch bet 25,000 from early position. Thornton tanked for a minute before making the call, and after Claunch revealed that his {j-Spades}{9-Spades} had been counterfeited, Thornton tabled {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a nut flush draw that ended up with aces-up, and Thornton took down the monster pot.

Hand #2:

Claunch raised to 2,300 from under the gun, and Thornton called on the button.

Claunch bet 3,300 on the {2-Clubs}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop, and Thornton called.

Both players checked the {6-Hearts} turn, and Claunch quickly checked the {7-Hearts} river. Thornton cut out a bet, and Claunch folded before the chips hit the felt.

Nelson Knocks One Out

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

After a raise to 2,500 from the hijack, Vincent Moscati called on the button, and Ian Nelson three-bet to 8,000 from the small blind. THe hijack four-bet jammed for 9,100 total, and Moscati tanked for a bit before folding. Nelson called.

Opponent: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Ian Nelson: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Nelson caught up immediately on the {6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, and held on the {3-Clubs} turn and {4-Clubs} river to eliminate the hijack.
