Harrington tapped the table to Gasparyan who bet 11,000 instantly and Harrington took a moment but in the end, he called the bet and an {a-Hearts} completed the board.

Both players checked, Gasparyan showed {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for two pair but it was not good when Harrington tabled {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for three treys, scooping the pot.

The defending champion has not entered the building as the third level of the day gets underway. Daniel Silva just took a seat in the Day 1c flight and is a familiar name to the tournament as he took down the event last year for a career-high cash of $91,557.

Silva bested a field of 414 players to take home the first-place prize, along with a $3,500 package to the HPT Season XV Championship after defeating Hyndi Khomutetsky heads-up.

Alexis Sterner opened to 800 from the button, Dale Williams called in the small blind and the dealer spread out {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} on the flop.

Williams led out with a bet of 1,200, Sterner called and the {2-Hearts} landed as a turn card. Williams bet 2,000 and Sterner called again to see the {j-Hearts} river card.

Williams again bet, this time for 3,500 and Sterner hit the fold button, shipping the pot over to Williams.

John McConnell Kicks Off HPT Daytona Beach with Monster Stack Victory

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at the Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club to live report the $1,100 Main Event, but this is just one of several tournaments on the HPT Daytona Beach schedule. For the past week, the venue had played host to a series of side events, and we wanted to take a moment to recognize the lucky winners from those tournaments.

For example, Event #1: $250 Monster Stack attracted 285 runners and offered up a $58,995 prize pool. Among those to get a piece of it but fall short of the final table were Dewayne Snipes (10th - $1,150), Thomas Poulton (13th - $844), Sied Zamiri (16th - $737), Karl Sirotkin (20th - $661), Gary Swaney (26th - $651), and Herbert Turner (30th - $651).

In the end, John McConnell of Montverde, Florida bested Vero Beach’s Trent Smith in heads-up play to win the title and $13,574 top prize.
