Herstein Gets Value With Ace-High

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Gary Herstein
Gary Herstein

Gary Herstein raised to 1,200 from under the gun, and found a single caller in the big blind.

Both players checked the {3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop, and the {j-Hearts} fell on the turn. The big blind checked, and Herstein bet 1,500. The big blind called.

Both players checked again on the {j-Clubs} river, and the big blind flipped over {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a busted flush draw. Herstein had also missed a draw of his own, but his {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds} was good enough to take down the pot.

Hinkle Takes on Bryne

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Blair Hinkle
Blair Hinkle

Melissa Bryne limped in from early position, as did a player in middle position. Blair Hinkle raised to 1,500 from the cutoff, and only Bryne came along with a call.

Action checked to the river on a {8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs} board, where Bryne checked and Hinkle fired a pot-sized bet of 4,000. Bryne quickly folded.

Syrigos Takes Control on the River

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Action folded around to Nick Syrigos on the button, who elected to raise to 800. The small blind called, as did Brad Smith in the big blind.

The three saw a flop of {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, both blinds checked, and Syrigos continued for 1,000. The small blind quickly folded, and Smith thought for a moment before check-raising to 2,800. Syrigos rose up from his seat to eye Smith's stack—about 24,000 behind, which Smith had way covered—before tossing in the call.

Smith continued for 4,600 on the {9-Hearts} turn, and Syrigos thought for a minute before calling.

When the {2-Clubs} river rolled off, Smith checked, and Syrigos bet 10,000. Smith counted out his remaining 19,000 and mucked fairly quickly.

Berry Fills Up on Turn

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Will Berry
Will Berry

The under-the-gun player opened to 800, and another player in early position called. "I'm not getting in the middle of this," said the player next to act, relinquishing his hand. Action folded around to Will Berry in the big blind, who defended.

The three players flopped triplets in the form of {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Action checked through.

When the {6-Hearts} turn hit the felt, Berry bet 800, the pre-flop aggressor folded, and the player in middle position called.

The {10-Spades} river went check-check, and Berry showed {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a turned full house and the win.

Massive Chip Leader Coliny Forces a Fold From Lowery

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Justin Coliny
Justin Coliny

Bradley Beetz raised to 800 from middle position, and was called by Will Berry next to act, Justin Coliny in the cutoff, Dan Lowery on the button, and the big blind.

Action checked to Lowery on a {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop, and he bet 2,300. Only Coliny called.

Both players checked the {7-Diamonds} turn, and the {2-Clubs} fell on the river. Coliny checked, and Lowery bet 4,500. Coliny check-raised to 15,000, and Lowery showed the {q-Clubs} from his hand before folding. Coliny now commands a mammoth stack of 600 big blinds, which would be good for fourth place overall after yesterday's flight just four levels into Day 1b.

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Charlie Dawson
Charlie Dawson

For the past week, the Heartland Poker Tour has been hosting a slew of side events here at the Hollywood Casino St. Louis.

Mixed game aficionados found some love with the inclusion of Event #4: $200 7-Game Mix, which consisted of No-Limit Hold'em, Pot-Limit Omaha, and H.O.R.S.E. in an eight-handed format. 76 players came out to join in the fun, and just nine of them would earn a chunk of the $12,388 prize pool.

When the smoke cleared, it was Charlie Dawson who managed to come out on top, taking home $3,963 in prize money for his victory, the first of three victories for the Owensboro, Kentucky native on the week.

Whittington Leads the Turn

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Blake Whittington
Blake Whittington

Players folded around to the button, who opened for 800. Blake Whittington called in the small blind, as did the big blind.

Both checked the {j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop. When the {j-Spades} turn paired the board and added a flush draw, Whittington quickly overbet for 3,300. The button folded just as fast, and Whittington took down the pot.
