Rubbathan Not off to the Best of Starts

Level 12 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Mark Rubbathan is also present in Dublin. The UK-based poker streamer recently had a breakout win in a $20,000 Mystery Bounty during the Triton Series in Vietnam. He started today with just shy of 50,000 chips but that stack has dwindled a bit during the 90 minutes of play so far.

He was playing a pot against Epimenidis Stavroulakis. The board was {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and cutoff Stavroulakis had gone all-in for roughly 20,000 chips into a pot of 25,000 after a check from Rubbathan in middle position. Rubbathan was visibly displeased, counted his chips, and folded his hand.

The very next hand Rubbathan made another attempt to win a pot, this time by raising from early position to 3,200. Cutoff Matthew Donlan had different ideas and 3-bet to 10,500. Rubbathan instantly folded as he was left with just under a starting stack.

McCoy Eliminated After Jacks Cracked By Sixes

Level 12 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Gary McCoy shoved from under the gun for around 26,000 and was called by Keith Valentine in the small blind. McCoy was the player at risk as players flipped over their cards.

Gary McCoy: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Keith Valentine: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The board came {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. McCoy's pocket jacks held all the way to the river, but Valentine hit the six to make his set and scoop the pot. McCoy was eliminated.

"Fuck this game man," he said as he grabbed his bag and stormed off from the table.

Nitsche Doubles with Seven-Deuce

Level 12 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Dominik Nitsche and Ian O'Flynn were involved in a blind-on-blind battle for a pot worth roughly 35,000. On a completed board of {4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts} O'Flynn had checked to Nitsche. Nitsche went all-in for 28,900 chips and O'Flynn asked the dealer for an exact count.

After the correct number was given, O'Flynn called. Nitsche had a surprise in store for O'Flynn as he showed {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Nitsche turned two pair and doubled up with the worst starting hand in hold'em.

You know what they say, ''Seven-deuce, never lose''.

Benger Will Not Be a Two-Time Champ

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Griffin Benger
Griffin Benger

In the previous level, Griffin Benger busted from the feature table. Robert Bull raised to 3,500 from the button before Benger requested an all-in triangle and shoved his 33,000 chips in the middle. Bull quickly called and their hands were tabled for the cameras.

Griffin Benger: {j-Spades}{9-Spades}
Robert Bull: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Benger flopped a straight draw on {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, making his hand a slight favorite over Bulls's ace-high. However, the deck had two blanks in store in the form of the {5-Hearts} and {2-Clubs}. Bull's ace held on and Benger will have to set his hopes on next year's Irish Open.

Murphy Shoves Short Stack and Busts

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Peter Murphy moved all in from late position for his remaining 5,000 chips. He was called by Scott Kahler in the small blind and Fraser Bellamy in the big blind.

Kahler and Bellamy could have built a side pot but instead opted to check it down on a board of {j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Kahler had the winning hand, the {k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of fives. Murphy was eliminated from the event.
