The 2025 Irish Open saw its busiest day of the series so far, with 1,012 players taking to the felt today in Day 1c of the €1,150 Main Event. Of the 1,012, 342 have progressed to Day 2, which commences on Saturday, April 19 at 12 p.m. local time.

Borja Urrea topped the counts after another 14 Levels of play. The Spainish national bagged 628,000 for his efforts. He is the first PokerStars qualifier to finish at the top of the Day 1 flights during this Main Event. Urrea has one recorded cash which came at EPT Barcelona in the €1,100 No Limit Hold'em - ESPT Main Event, finishing 70th for € 2,070. Urrea will have a sizeable stack to work with come Day 2 and will be looking to add another cash and a deep run to his record.

Oleksii Buhrim claimed second and his only 500 chips behind Urrea, with 627,500. Buhrim was consistent throughout the day and featured in the top 10 chip counts throughout the day. The Ukrainian is an unknown in the poker world and doesn't have a Hendon Mob profile. A Google search of his name returned his LinkedIn profile, which says he works with metalworking tools and general technology. He will be gunning for his first recorded cash come Day 2.

Uzair Choudhary is another unfamiliar name to the European poker game. He bagged 595,000 for his efforts. Choudhary is another player free of a Hendon Mob profile but has played in tournaments in his native country of Canada.

For the home contingent, Jason Tompkins bagged 559,500 for his efforts. The experienced Irishman is back from a break from the tables but is back with a bang and will be a force to be reckoned with on Day 2. Tompkins has numerous cashes here in Dublin including seven wins. The largest score he had in Ireland was for €50,000 back in 2009. He was last seen making Day 2 of the Mystery Bounty this series.

Daniel Rezaei made it through on his second bullet of the day, securing 283,500 for his effort. PokerStars Ambassadors Fintan Hand (280,500) and Sebastian Huber (216,000) both progressed to Day 2.

Notables who will have to go again on Day 1d or 1e include but are not limited to: Gilles Simon, Jamie Dwan, Marcel Kessler and Stephen Song.

Once again the structure remains unchanged when Day 1d kicks off tomorrow at 12 p.m. local time.

As always stay tuned to PokerNews as the excitement continues to build as Day 2 quickly approaches.

He tabled Q7 for a flopped queen-high flush but Duthie went runner runner to boat up with Q10.

Niall Campbell faired best of the home contingent as he scored a stack of 605,000, good for second overall over the first two flights, but with today's flight to go and two tomorrow, the overall leaderboard can still change dramatically.

Joshua Boulton took third yesterday with a stack of 511,000 and will be looking to add to his 15th place finish in the €350 Irish Open 6-Max last year and his $604,661 in career tournament earnings.

Players get 50,000 chips for their buy in and are allowed to re-enter once per flight, with registration closing after level 10 in each Day 1. Day 1's will feature 14 levels and the survivors of each flight will proceed to Day 2. Players who bag chips in any Day 1 may play a different Day 1 trying to bag a larger stack. Any player who bags chips in multiple Day 1’s will play their largest stack in Day 2 and forfeit any smaller stack.

Levels will run for 45-minutes each and the blinds will start at 100/100 with no ante coming into play until Level 3 where the blinds will be 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. 20-minute breaks are scheduled at the end of levels 3 and 6 with a one hour dinner break commencing at the end of Level 9 followed by a final 20-minute break at the end of Level 12.
