Tononi Spikes Turn to Survive

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Ivan Tononi
Ivan Tononi

Ivan Tononi raised on the button, and immediately faced an all-in from Jun Miao in the small blind. The big blind folded, and Tononi had a decision to make. His stack of 1,940,000 was less than Miao's, so a call would be for his tournament life. After consideration, he flicked in a chip to call.

Ivan Tononi: A10 All in
Jun Miao: AJ

It was not the situation Tononi had hoped for, finding his ace dominated.

The [9h6d6f] did little more than offer some opportunities to chop the pot.

However, the dealer then burned and turned the 10, seeing Tononi leapfrog Miao into the lead.

The 5 completed the board, and Tononi scooped in a double up, as Miao was left with under 20 big blinds.

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

James Clossick: JJ All in
Daryl McAleenan: A10

The deck had no aces in store on the 6636K runout, meaning Clossick doubled up to nearly 30 big blinds.

Johnston Latest to Fall

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Seeing a raise from Gilbert Black ahead of him, Cecil Johnston moved all in for 305,000. The action folded back to Black, who called.

Cecil Johnston: K9 All in
Gilbert Black: AK

The 76A flop left Johnston drawing extremely thin, and when the 6 turn joined the board, he was officially drawing dead.

The inconsequential J completed the board as Johnston said his goodbyes to the table.

Tulica Takes Out Lyubomirov

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Iani Tulica had raised in the hijack when Kalozan Lyubomirov committed his 850,000 chips from the cutoff. It folded back to Tulica, who quickly called.

Kalozan Lyubomirov: QQ All in
Iani Tulica: AA

Tulica's aces made a straight on the 4532 turn, and the 10 river did not bring a chop on the table. Lyubomirov took his exit as Tulica chipped up to over 50 big blinds.

Pop Goes Unchallenged

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Zach Moger opened to 160,000 from under the gun before seeing Catalin Pop move all in for 1,095,000 two seats to his left. There was plenty of interest in the all-in, as multiple players confirmed the bet size with the dealer. One by one, though, the action folded back to Moger, who also returned his cards to the dealer.

Pontos Chops With Cahill, Causes Time Bank Drama

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Panteleimon Pontos raised to 175,000 under the gun, facing a three-bet to 450,000 from Seamus Cahill on the button, who was playing a monster stack.

Pontos used a few time bank, after which the dealer called the floor. It appeared Pontos only had 25,000 behind, causing the floor to rule his clock to be reduced to five seconds.

However, most of Pontos' chips were actually near his neighbor. The situation was quickly resolved, and Pontos thought a little longer before four-betting all in for 1,275,000. Cahill snap-called.

Panteleimon Pontos: AJ All in
Seamus Cahill: 1010

The board ran out a straight with 67453, and the players chopped the pot.

Afterward, Pontos stirred some more controversy when he did not want to relinquish his time banks, as he claimed the dealer should have taken them as the hand went along.

The floor was once again called, and Pontos was forced to spend the time banks he had used.

Zheng Keeps His Foot Down

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Joining the action with roughly 750,000 already in the pot, under the gun player Danilo Donnini checked on a 836 flop. One seat to his left, Weijie Zheng put a bet of 375,000 into the middle. Donnini called.

The dealer added the K turn to the board, and this time Donnini opted to check-fold when Zheng continued for 850,000.

Maybin Doubles Blind Versus Blind

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Michael Maybin
Michael Maybin

When the action folded to James Clossick in the small blind, he moved all in, covering the 615,000 stack of Michael Maybin in the big blind. Maybin took one look at his cards and called.

Michael Maybin: QQ All in
James Clossick: Q9

An ideal spot for Maybin to spin up his 8 big blind stack, and when the dealer spread a 34A2K board, he secured the double up.
