Salickas Ousts Lahtinen

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Vytenis Salickas opened for 1,000 before Jari Juhani Lahtinen jammed his short-stack of 4,200. Salickas snap-called and turned over {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} and was in good shape against his opponent's {9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

The {5-Hearts}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop improved Salickas' hand even further and his opponent was drawing dead after the {k-Hearts} came on the turn. The {10-Diamonds} on the river made the hand official and Lahtinen was felted. Lahtinen's Main Event might not be over as he can opt to reenter up until the end of the first blind level of Day 2 if he so chooses.

Mortenssen and Hardt Both with Aces

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante
Morten Mortensen
Morten Mortensen

The third bullet is going well for Jussia Mattila as he has grown his stack to around 90,000 in chips. As we were counting his stack a hand was developing on the table.

Morten Mortensen bet 2,300 into a pot of over 3,000 with the flop reading {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Mattila called as did Anastasija Sivaka before Nils Hardt jammed his stack of 10,450.

Mortensen tanked for a minute before he over-jammed his stack of 23,800. Mattila asked for a chip count before both he and Sivaka folded.

"Freeroll!" Hardt shouted after he turned over {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} and his opponent turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}.

Hardt then called for another club to complete a flush after the {5-Clubs} came on the turn. However, the {9-Hearts} wasn't one of the cards he needed and settled for a chop with Mortensen.

Kokk Coolered by Ailamo

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante
Janar Kokk
Janar Kokk

Paulius Jucys opened to 900 from early position and got a call from Risto Ailamo in middle position. Janar Kokk three-bet to 2,500 from the small blind and both Jucys and Ailamo called.

Kokk fired a continuation-bet of 5,300 on the {2-}{4-}{9-} rainbow flop. Jucys folded before Ailamo jammed for about 7,000.

Kokk quickly called and appeared to be in good shape after turning over {j-}{j-} for an over-pair and his opponent showing {6-}{5-} for a gutshot straight draw.

The gutshot completed after the [3x[ hit the turn and the table laughed. Kokk was drawing dead and his opponent collected the pot after the dealer dealt the river to make the hand official.

Full House is Good for Jucys

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante

Gunnar Wedde opened from middle position to 900. Paulius Jucys three-bet to 2,500 from the small blind and Wedde called.

Jucys check-called a bet of 2,500 after the flop came {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Both players then checked after the {j-Spades} came on the turn.

The {10-Clubs} paired the board on the river and Jucys led out for 3,000 before Wedde raised it up to 7,000.

Jucys went into the tank for more than two minutes before he made the call. Wedde turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and appeared to the table and the dealer that he won the hand.

About five seconds or so later, Jucys turned over {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for the full house to win the pot while Wedde silently shook his head.

Looking Like a Record Field

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante

The field has grown already to 234 entrants. It seems to be almost a certainty that last year's figure of 268 entrants will be shattered with unlimited reentries available until the late registration period ends after the first level of play is concluded on Day 2.
