Oliver Rowe Eliminated in 18th Place ($7,300)

Oliver Rowe - 18th Place
Oliver Rowe - 18th Place
The details are a bit fuzzy as the action transpired quickly, but there's not really much you need to know.

Oliver Rowe got it in preflop with {9-Hearts} {9-Spades}, and he ran smack into Daniela de Lima Zapiello's {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}. There was no help on board for the underpair, and last year's fifth-place finisher has been knocked off in 18th place this time around. He'll take home significantly less than last time, but $7,300 is not terribly bad for three days of work.

Gil Morgensztern Eliminated in 19th Place ($7,300)

Gil Morgensztern was riding a very short stack, and he got his few chips all in preflop with {6-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}. Marco Caicedo doesn't exactly have a chip surplus himself, but he came along with the lowly {4-Clubs} {5-Hearts}, and the Battle of the Rags was a go!

There was drama from start to finish on a board running {Q-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. In the end, Caicedo's two pair is good enough to drag the pot, sending Morgensztern out in 19th place in the process.

There's a Shorty Fire Burning

Roman Suarez was all in for about 180,000 before the flop with {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}, and Marco Caicedo was unfortunate enough to find {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} on the same hand.

After the chips went in, the dealer dealt a board of {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} {4-Spades} {3-Spades} {4-Clubs}. Caicedo actually had a chance to chop the pot on fourth street, but the river was the wrong shade of black.

Suarez is up to 390,000, and the trend of the short-stack double-ups continues.

Dias Knocks Ludger Back a Peg

We caught up to the action late, but it looks like Bernardo Dias got his ~150,000 remaining chips into the pot preflop with {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}. When we walked up, Norbert Ludger's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} were up on the felt as well, and we had yet another race situation on our hands.

The flop was a damn good miss for Dias as it came out {8-Spades} {5-Spades} {7-Spades}. He bricked the {2-Diamonds} turn, but he would not miss that many outs twice. The {A-Spades} landed on the river, giving him the spade flush and securing his double up to 310,000.

Don't worry about Ludger, he's just fine. His stack of 830,000 is still well out in front of the rest of his competition.

Barbero Drinking Double

In a battle of the forced bettors, Nacho Barbero completed when the table folded around to his small blind. In the big, Cesar Mostafa made it 49,000 straight, and Barbero came right back with an all-in shove for about 250,000 total. Mostafa quickly called with his big stack.

Showdown
Barbero: {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}
Mostafa: {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}

It was a race for Barbero's survival, and he would run fastest in this one. The board rolled out {3-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Spades}, and his pair of queens takes it down. Chips are flying around the room right now as nobody is afraid of playing a big pot.

Barbero - 510,000
Mostafa - 410,000

Ludger Cracks Aces, Wins a Million

In the cutoff seat, Norbert Ludger limped into the pot, and he called a raise of 35,000 from Bernardo Dias on the button.

The two men went heads up to a flop of {K-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. Ludger knocked the table, allowing Dias to continue out with a bet of 65,000. He then stuck in a check-raise to 140,000 before Dias three-bet shoved all in. Ludger quickly called for his own tournament life, putting a pot of nearly one million chips up for grabs!

Showdown
Ludger: {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds}
Dias: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}

Ludger had found his two pair, needing to fade the aces and the screwy two pair possibilities to double up. The {3-Hearts} on the turn was as safe as any card, and the {10-Diamonds} on the river was just fine for him as well.

Kings up are kind to Ludger, and he's tallied that huge double in the largest pot of the tournament.

Ludger - 980,000
Dias - 170,000

A Battle For the Lead

Cesar Mostafa has just regained the overall chip lead after tangling in a relatively significant pot with Norbert Ludger.

Mostafa was the preflop aggressor in position, and Ludger put in the call from the big blind. They both checked the flop of {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {K-Spades}, and Ludger check-called a bet of 32,000 on the {Q-Spades} turn. The {9-Clubs} was the river card, and Ludger check-called another 60,000-chip bet.

Mostafa showed up {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} for the unbeatable nut straight. Ludger mucked, but Mostafa asked for his hand to be turned over. We cringe every time that happens down here, but the dealer obliged and pulled Ludger's {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} out of the muck.

Mostafa - 580,000
Ludger - 520,000
