The player in the cutoff opened to 3,500, only to see Leandro Csome pop it to 8,300 on the button. The blinds folded, the cutoff called, and an flop came down.
The cutoff immediately announced all in for about 35,000, prompting a fold from Csome after about 30 seconds. The flashed when Csome folded, while the cutoff showed while collecting the chips.
Players from the Untied States have been few and far between here at the LAPT-Colombia, but that didn't stop us from finding Jason Sudol, who was anxious to say hello to his friends back home. He is sitting on a stack of about 45,000.
In other news, the eliminations just keep piling up and there are empty seats scattered throughout the room. Three of those seats belong to the following occupants:
After the player in the cutoff opened to 4,400, Freddy Torres three-bet to 12,000 on the button. Luis Yepez, in the small blind, four-bet all in for about 26,000, forcing a fold from the player in the cutoff. Torres considered it for a few moments before giving it up as well. Yepez showed while he collected the chips.
Day 1b chip leader, Leandro Csome, is wasting little time putting his big stack to work. In a recent hand Csome raised to 3,500 under the gun and cleared the field all the way around to the big blind, who made the call. When the flop came down , the big blind checked and Csome out out a C-bet of 5,300. The big blind flashed and seemed a bit agitated when he sent his cards to the muck.
We didn't catch all the action, but we noticed what appeared to be a relieved Andres Marquez standing at his table. When we made our way over, we discovered he was the beneficiary of a double up when his defeated his Camilo Zuluaga's on a board. Right out of the gate, the players are mixing it up in a big way.
Marquez double to approximately 60,000 on the hand.
Action folded to Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari in the small blind and he raised to 3,800. Jesus Acosta called from the big blind and the flop came down .
Akkari fired a continuation bet of 4,600, enough to take down the pot.
The remaining 209 players have taken their seats and the cards are in the air. We expect the days to be characterized by fast action and quick eliminations, so stay tuned.
Welcome to Day 2 of the Latin American Poker Tour-Colombia here at the Allegre Casino in Medellin. Today, 205 players will return to action, including PokerStars Team ProsHumberto Brenes (Costa Rica) and Andre Akkari (Brazil); Days 1a and 1b chip leaders Freddy Torres (207,000) and Leandro Csome (149,000); current LAPT Player of the Year leader Pablo Gonzalez; LAPT Uruguay final tablist Engelberth Varela; and the man currently in second on the LAPT Player of the Year Leaderboard, Daniel Ospina.
While all of these men are looking for LAPT glory, only 63 of the remaining players will earn a payday, with the first-place prize being a whopping $288,329,000 Columbian Pesos, or about $150,000 USD. Not too shabby for the largest LAPT Main Event in history with 681 entrants, surpassing the 621 entries of Chile's Vina del Mar event back in March.
Day 2 action is set to kick off at noon local time tomorrow, which is about an hour and a half away. We expect it to be a long and grueling day as the remaining field is set to play down to a final table, or at least come as close as possible. The money bubble likely burst in the late afternoon, and you can rest assured the PokerNews Live Reporting will be here to bring you all the latest hands, action, and eliminations from the LAPT-Colombia.
