Day 1b Started
Yesterday, Season 5 of the Latin American Poker Tour kicked off at the Enjoy Casino & Resort in Vina del Mar, Chile with Day 1a, which drew 284 entrants including 203 Chileans. By night’s end, approximately 89 players survived to Day 2 including last year’s sixth-place finisher Daniela Horno, twin brothers Carlos Perez & Luis Perez, former LAPT final tablist Brent Sheirbon, and reigning LAPT Player of the Year Pablo Gonzalez, and chip leader Waldermar Barrientos, who bagged up 140,300.
Today Day 1b action will commence, and we’re expecting an even larger turnout including some new Team PokerStars Pros like Nacho Barbero (Argentina), Humberto Brenes (Costa Rica) and Andre Akkari (Brazil). Unfortunately the two Team PokerStars Pros in action on Day 1a, Leo Fernandez (Argentina) and Freddy Torres (Online), were both eliminated late in the evening.
Can Day 1b attract 338 players and surpass last year’s record-setting field of 621? Only time will tell. Action is set to begin at Noon CLS, which is just under two hours from now, and off course you can follow all the action right here on PokerNews as we patrol the floors of the Enjoy Casino & Resort for all the latest and greatest from the LAPT Chile!

Action folded around to the player in the cutoff and he limped, prompting Ariel Celestino to raise to 300 from the button. The blinds both folded, the button made the call, and the flop came out . The cutoff led out for a paltry 200, which Celestino called.
The cutoff proceeded to check-call a bet of 550 on the turn before firing out a healthy 3,200 on the river. Celestino, who you may recall as the Brazilian Poker Tour champion, wasted little time in making the call, but laughed in disbelief when his opponent rolled over for a rivered full house. Celestino dropped to 11,000 on the hand.

Team PokerStars Pro (Brazil) Andre Akkari opened from early position for 450, which was called by both the button and the big blind. It then went check-check on the flop, inspiring the button to bet 1,500. Only Akkari made the call, and then both players checked down the turn and river.
Akkari showed for sevens, but it was no good as his opponent held .
