Doubling (and Quadrupling) the Dutch

On the first hand back from the break, Fatima Moreira de Melo put her last ~4,500 into the middle preflop with pocket aces. The gentleman two to her left looked her up with ace-king, and he managed to flop a gutterball on the {Q-} {J-} {X-}. De Melo's aces ended up holding strong on the turn and river, though, and she's worked her way back up to about 9,000.

A couple tables over, her fellow Dutchman, Wesley Wiemes was about to be all in himself. He had just 300 lonely chips left when he stuck them in from late position, and three other opponents in the pot gave him the chance at a quadruple up. The board ran out {2-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {9-Spades} with only one bet-call on the turn.

At showdown, the two other players still in the hand showed down {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} and {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts}, respectively, and Wiemes only needed to have a pair. He hadn't looked yet, though, and he and the rest of the table got to see his hole cards together: {8-Hearts} {9-Clubs}.

"Opa!" he yelled in celebration, sitting back down to try and parlay that pot into a big comeback.

More Chips for Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu was back at it again, this time on the {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop after he set his opponent all in. The player tanked for a bit, had the clock called on him by another player at the table and then called. He held the {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and Negreanu the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

"I've got 15 outs," Negreanu said. "Any heart, queen or eight."

The turn made things quick and easy as the {Q-Diamonds} was dealt to give Negreanu an unbeatable straight to the king. The river completed the board with the {3-Clubs}. Negreanu raked in the pot after having his opponent covered and moved to 63,000 in chips.

Salles Rivered

Gualter Salles
Gualter Salles

From early position, Gualter Salles raised to 750. The player on the button was the only caller before the flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Salles bet 750 and his opponent raised to 2,200. Salles called.

The turn was the {5-Spades} and Salles fired 3,500. His opponent called.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Salles bet all in. His opponent — with 3,750 left — made the quick call.

Salles tabled the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for top set of queens. His opponent had him beat, though, with the {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} having rivered a flush.

Ramos Stands Strong

Felipe Ramos
Felipe Ramos

Felipe Ramos was the preflop raiser, and he called a three-bet from an opponent across the table in the small blind. Heads up, the dealer spread out {2-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}, and the action went check-check. On the turn, the {9-Clubs} drew another check from the small blind, and Ramos took his cue to make a standard bet. It was called, and the {5-Clubs} completed the board. When the small blind checked again, Ramos took his cue to fire out 4,000, but his opponent check-raised all in for 12,600 total. Ramos had the exact same chip count, so the decision was for double or nothing at all.

After what couldn't have been more than 90 seconds, a player not involved in the hand called the clock. Ramos protested, but the dealer made the floor call, and the man arrived. "Un minuto," he said as he approached the table, directing his comment to nobody in particular. Ramos, deep in thought, didn't appear to hear or acknowledge the clock counting down, and he spent the better part of his time pleading his case with the man who had clocked him.

"Ten... nine..." began the count from the floorman, and Ramos began to get pretty upset. His Spanish quickened as he tried to explain what was happening, but the floorman kept on counting down: "Three... two... one...." As he hit zero, he made the finger-across-the-throat gesture to indicate that the hand was dead.

But Ramos was having none of it. He held his cards firmly under his right hand and waved the first finger on his left back and forth. "No, no, no," he insisted, and the floorman finally took a moment to listen. When he heard Ramos' side of the story, he asked the dealer to confirm, and she admitted that he'd only been given a short while to think. "Okay," the floor said. "Juega (play)."

Ramos only needed another 30 seconds or so to decide, and he finally grabbed the last of his stack and plunked them into the middle with some gusto. His opponent made a motion to see the cards, and Ramos went ahead and turned over his {Q-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. When the opponent nodded and mucked, Ramos pounded his fist on the felt in celebration, stepping away from the table for just a moment to gather himself before stacking up the knockout pot.

Guillen Can't Fill Up; Doubles Opponent

Angel Guillen
Angel Guillen

We arrived at the table of Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen to see that he had an opponent all in on the {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} board holding the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Unfortunately for Guillen and his two pair, his opponent had the {6-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a straight.

The river completed the board with the {3-Diamonds} and failed to give Guillen the full house he needed to win the pot. He shipped over the chips and was kicked back down to 24,500.
