Engel Pushes Opponent Out

With a flop of {4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, we caught up with the action to see a player had bet 1,400 and Ari Engel made the call from the button. The player in the big blind made it 4,100 and another player and the original bettor got out of the way. Engel made the call.

The turn brought the {A-Hearts} and Engel's opponent checked. Engel riffled his chips for a moment before reaching for a stack and pushing out 16,000. His opponent heaved a sigh that could be felt around the room as he threw his {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} across the table, folding his hand.

Engel shrugged his shoulders and triumphantly tabled the {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a smaller flush draw. Although Egnel had the worst hand, we was awarded the pot and is now sitting at roughly 35,500.

Palacios Peeved By The River

Bolivar Palacios
Bolivar Palacios

After the player in the cutoff raised to 600, Bolivar Palacios re-raised to 1,400 on the button. The blinds folded, the cutoff called, and an {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} flop fell.

The cutoff checked it to Palacios who bet 1,400. A call from the cutoff landed the {10-Spades} on the turn which both players checked. The {A-Spades} river was checked by the cutoff, putting the action back on Palacios. He shook his head slowly in slight disgust and tapped the table.

Palacios showed {J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, but watched the pot get pushed to his opponent when he showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

Brenes Fighting to Stay Alive

Humberto Brenes managed to battle back after a staggering first level to this tournament. However, when we last caught up with him things were not going too well.

Action folded around to Brenes who raised to 500 from the cutoff and received a call from both blinds. The flop came {3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and the blinds checked. Brenes continued out with a bet of 1,000 and the small blind called. The big blind, however, pushed out a raise and after some pondering, Brenes reluctantly mucked his hand. The small blind got out of the way as well and the player in the big blind picked up the pot.

Brenes is now sitting at about 6,000.

With over 10,000 in the pot, Fabrizio Gonzalez and two other players saw a flop of {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Both players checked to Gonzalez who pushed out a bet of 4,750. Gonzalez sat motionless as his opponents both pondered the bet and eventually mucked their hands.

Gonzalez was able to pick up yet another pot, padding his already large stack.
