Gecaj Eliminates Steenstra

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Lex Veldhuis and Simon Steenstra
Lex Veldhuis and Simon Steenstra

Halil Gecaj raised to 7,500 and Simon Steenstra put his last 30,000 in the middle. Gecaj quickly called and they opened up.

It was a classic raise as Gecaj had {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Steenstra had {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}. The {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop gave Steenstra some extra outs and so did the {7-Hearts} on the turn. The {5-Clubs} on the river was a massive brick and Steenstra was eliminated with a little under an hour left in the day.

Steenstra won the £100 pot-limit Omaha tournament yesterday after making a heads-up deal with PokerStars ambassador Kalidou Sow but he has yet to find a bag for Day 2 of the Lex Live Main Event.

Nguyen Wins a Flip

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Brandon Trong Nguyen put a player at his table all in and at risk of elimination with {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and he was up against {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. The board brought an ace on the {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop.

His opponent wasn't able to catch up on the {2-Clubs} turn and {2-Spades} river and Nguyen secured a knockout and a nice pot to boos his stack.

Aloi Doubles Through Beuker

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Tommy Beuker opened under the gun and Damiano Aloi found enough to put his last 21,400 in the middle. He was called by Beuker and they opened up. The Australian had {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and he needed to win against the {q-Spades}{10-Spades} of Beuker.

The {8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop was good for Aloi and so were the {9-Clubs} turn and {4-Hearts} river as the man ''all the way from Adelaide'' doubled up his stack.

Steven Alper Chips Up Even More

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Steven Alper has the biggest stack in the tournament room after he won a big 130,000 pot. The board read {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} when the player in the big blind bet 22,500 with about 30,000 in the pot.

Alper raised to 50,000 and his opponent made the call after a short while. Alper showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for a full house and that was the best hand.

Aloi Down But Not Out

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Damiano Aloi was put in a tough spot when he led out on a {2-}{8-Spades}{6-}{8-Spades}{q-Spades} board. He had an eight in his hand for three of a kind but his 15,000 bet was raised. Aloi was put all in and he eventually laid his hand down.

His opponent showed {a-Spades}{j-Spades} for the nut flush and he did make the correct lay down but he is left with about 13 big blinds.
