LEX LIVE 2: Community bonding over booze and beer pong

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Beer Pong
Beer Pong

Lex Live isn’t your typical poker festival. There’s poker to be played, sure, but it’s what happens away from the felt which really matters to this community.

Take last night, for example.

Lex Veldhuis and PokerStars hired The Bat and Ball in Westfield Stratford City, directly opposite the Aspers Casino, and invited everyone from Lex Live 2 to get together, hang out, drink, play ping pong, eat, drink, shoot some pool, drink, battle at beer pong, and drink.

And did we mention the open bar?

Moneymaker Eliminated by Shaban

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Chris Moneymaker raised under the gun to 2,100 and he was called by Arlie Shaban from middle position. Both of the blinds called as well and the four saw the {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop being dealt after Shaban asked for a four on the board.

All four checked to see the {j-Spades} on the turn and it checked to Shaban who bet 5,000. The blinds got out of the way and PokerStars Ambassador Moneymaker raised to 10,000. Fellow Ambassador Shaban stuck around after Moneymaker said ''just fold'' to his teammate.

The {5-Spades} was dealt on the river and Moneymaker bet 6,500 which was everything he had behind and Shaban quickly called. Moneymaker showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} but he was beat by Shaban who showed {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} and he didn't need a four on the flop after all.

Moneymaker still has the opportunity to buy back in the tournament with late registration open for another level and also a turbo flight kicking off at 6 p.m. local time.

Terry Jordan Wins Huge Three-Way All-In

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Terry Jordan got his money in the middle with {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} against {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. Jordan and another player were at risk of elimination with Jordan having the middle stack of the three.

His hand held on the {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds} runout and he scooped the big pot, eliminating one player while leaving David Butaev behind short.

Van Veen Eliminates an Opponent With Aces

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Kevin van Veen is known within Lex Veldhuis's community as 'Care_Teddy' and he just eliminated a player. He saw the player in early position raise to 2,000 and Van Veen three-bet to 5,400 from middle position. It folded around to the initial raiser and he called.

The flop was dealt {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and it checked to Van Veen who continued with a bet of 8,000. His opponent pushed all in for 31,000 and a quick call was made by Van Veen.

Van Veen showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} and his opponent had {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}. The {5-Diamonds} turn and {3-Spades} river didn't change anything for Van Veen and he scooped the pot, eliminating his opponent in the process.
