Ivanov Turns Higher Set to Double Stack
Level 11
: Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Action was on the flop and two players were enthusiastically stacking off on a board of 7♦5♠3♠.
By the time the raising battle was over, Hristofor Ivanov was all in for 67,300 against Hasmukh Khodiyara, who had him slightly covered as players flipped their cards.
Hristofor Ivanov: 9♥9♦
Hasmukh Khodiyara: 7♥7♠
Ivanov had an overpair to the board with his pocket nines and Khodiyara had a set of sevens.
It looked like Khodiyara would take win the huge pot, but the turn was the 9♣, which gave Ivanov a higher set with his nines.
The river was a blank, the 6♣ and Ivanov held to double his stack, much to his delight. He is now one of the top three chip leaders.
