Raabe on the Charge

Level 12 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The action was joined as Kasjusz Zycinski, on the button, and Henning Raabe, in the big blind, were looking at a flop of 837 with roughly 60,000 already in the middle.

Raabe checked to Zycinski, who placed a bet of 38,500 before Raabe check-raised all in for 114,000. A reluctant-looking Zycinski flicked in a chip to signify a call, and the players revealed their cards.

Henning Raabe: 87 All in
Kasjusz Zycinski: 86

It was a sorry situation for Zycinski, who was unable to find any help on the Q turn and K river, seeing the huge pot shipped in the direction of Raabe.

River Keeps Raabe Afloat

Level 12 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Henning Raabe
Henning Raabe

Johnny Andreassen kicked the action off with a raise to 12,000 from under the gun. When action folded to Henning Raabe, he moved all in for 58,500, which only Andreassen called.

Henning Raabe: A10 All in
Johnny Andreassen: JJ

Raabe needed help, and whilst no help was found on the 739 flop, the 8 turn provided more outs, giving him a straight draw alongside his overcard.

It was the latter that would come to Raabe's rescue, as the river A saw him pull into the lead, securing a double up.

Flashback: Graham Keith Takes Home PokerNews Championship at Malta Poker Festival Spring

Level 12 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Graham Keith
Graham Keith

From nearly out to all the way up, Graham Keith staged one of the most improbable comebacks in the €170 PokerNews Championship at the Malta Poker Festival Spring inside the Portomaso Casino.

Keith turned a three-big-blind stack into a €7,000 victory and the title after a rollercoaster final day of action, which saw the final three players come to a deal to end proceedings.

Bora Uludag and Filip Danyi were the respective second and third place finishers, and rounded out the podium from the 291-entry field.

Stropoli Manifests a Double Up, Caramazza Eliminated

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Francesco Caramazza
Francesco Caramazza

The action was joined as Julien Stropoli and Francesco Caramazza had manoeuvred their stacks into the middle preflop, and cards were being turned over.

Both players had remarkably similar stacks, but once they were counted, it was Caramazza at risk.

Francesco Caramazza: KK All in
Julien Stropoli: AK

The dealer fanned out a 59Q flop, to which Stropolo requested running clubs.

The 10 turn was the first piece of the puzzle, and the J river saw his request bear fruit, as he improved to a flush.

Once the stacks were double-checked, it was confirmed that Caramazza was eliminated from the event, and he headed to the exit.

Shaft First to Fall After Break

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The action was joined as Nima Shaft moved all in from the small blind for roughly 25,000, on a 85J flop. The pot already had around 30,000 in the middle, and the preflop raiser, Jonathan Stoeber, snap-called.

Nima Shaft: Q10 All in
Jonathan Stoeber: QQ

Shaft was relying on his gutshot straight draw, but when the board ran out 2 and 3, his remaining chips were pushed in the direction of Stoeber.

The very next hand, Andreas Putz was also eliminated at the same table.
