Joaquin's Aces; Abida's Straight

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Fahd had doubled up on his last table and then three-bet, but Abdenbi Abida was not willing to let go of his {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} after spiking an open ender. The turn came on the straight and Fahd didn't lost many more chips.

Joaquin three-bet shoved his stack of 60,000 and got a fold to almost cry before turning over his {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}.

Mohamed Ali Houssam Bubbles

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Mohamed Ali Houssam
Mohamed Ali Houssam

Saverio Cocozza raised to 12,500 and Michael van der Ghinst in the cutoff as well as Mohamed Ali Houssam in the small blind called. On the flop {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} the fireworks started and Houssam got his stack via check-raise in with Cocozza looking him up, hand for hand was not even underway yet.

Houssam: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Cocozza: {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

The 2011 WPT Marrakech Main Event champion was the player at risk for around 100,000 chips and needed to pair the board in order to stay in the tournament. However, the {9-Diamonds} turn and {7-Spades} river both blanked and the bubble burst before hand-for-hand mode had begun.

Vadella Busts to Set Up Bubble

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Marcel Vadella moved all in from under the gun for 59,500 and Israel Amoyal quickly called out of the big blind.

Vadella: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Amoyal: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop immediately improved Amoyal and he held up with {Q-Clubs} turn and {2-Hearts} river to reduce the field to 28 players.

The Three Shorties

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Three players are just above 10 big blinds, two even on the same table 33 in Israel Amoyal and Marcel Vadella. Joaquin faces the ever-talkative Anas Tadini and won't have much peace going forward either.

El Yousfi Eliminated

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Said El Yousfi
Said El Yousfi

Said El Yousfi was soon after at risk for around 65,000 chips with the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and Mathieu Papineau looked him up with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a flip.

The flop {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} seemed very innocent, but the {J-Hearts} on the turn gave the Swiss a huge draw. Unfortunately it was not meant to be with the {10-Spades} river pairing the board twice and keeping the nines of Papineau in front.

Conan and Abida Score Doubles

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Abdenbi Abida
Abdenbi Abida

Abdenbi Abida raised to 12,500 and then called the small three-bet by Said El Yousfi for 27,000 from one seat over. On the flop {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Abida led for 60,000 and El Yousfi shoved with pocket aces to put his opponent at risk with pocket aces.

Abida wasted little time before calling with {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for top two pair and even completed a full house thanks to the {5-Diamonds} turn. A blank {8-Clubs} river reduced El Yousfi to dust.

Arthur Conan had been losing a couple of smaller pots as well and then got into a hand with table neighbor Marcel Vadella. The latter faced the shove of Conan for 52,000 on the {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts} river and eventually called. Conan tabled his {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for a full house and Vadella was trying to muck, but was forced to show his {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} due to the all in showdown.

Doumou Doomed and Done

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Hakim Doumou opened to 12,000 from early position and then called all in for his stack of around 60,000 chips with the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. His opponent was Said El Yousfi and the Swiss had the far better hand in {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

The {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop didn't change much, but the {J-Spades} on the turn gave Doumou a pair of jacks. He was still leaving the table in disgust though, as the dealer burned and turned the {A-Diamonds} river as last community card.

There are 30 players left and 27 will make the money.

Pinho Shoves

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Henrique Oliveira de Sousa Pinho had just raised and folded to a shove before doing the same himself out of the small blind for 128,500. Arthur Conan had been the initial raiser, making it 13,000 to go, but the young Frenchman eventually folded after some consideration.
