Marrakech Poker Open Day 2 Gets Underway at 12 p.m Local Time

Day 2 of the Marrakech Poker Open Main Event is set to continue again at 12 p.m local time. The luxurious Es Saadi Resort has been hosting the events here over the past few days and the success has been wonderful. In total 426 entries, with 192 reentries, have been clocked with 98 hopefuls returning to the felt to pursue the coveted title of the biggest MPO ever.

Diego Sarmiento can be found at the top of the overall leaderboard with 538,500 in chips in total which he collected on Day 1a. Trailing just behind him is the chip leader of Day 1b, Mohamed Ait Chaib, with exactly 500,000 chips. Closing out the podium is Muhammed Hakim with 338,000 chips.

Other players to keep a close eye on include WSOP champion Jean-Luc Adam (225,00), Anas Tadini, (225,000), Christophe Pollet (178 000) and Rakesh Lalwani (135,500), who already final tabled two events this week. Imad Derwiche (80,000), after 11 reentries, Tristan Forge (80,500), Javier Tsunamy (80,000), Isabel Baltazar (48,000), Sonny Franco (27,500) and Hanna Azimai (35,000) have all bagged a below average stack for today so will be looking to run that up to a great stack for Day 3.

The plan for today is open-ended, and tournament officials have said that they will play it by ear as to how many levels are played today, or whether the aim is to reach the final 16 players.

Whatever happens, we will come back to Level 12 with blinds at 1,000/ 2,500 and a running ante of 2,500. The duration of the levels will increase to 60 minutes each.

The tournament director has welcomed the 98 remaining players back to the Casino de Marrakech and explained the new structure for today. As most of the players are seated at their tables, the dealers have been instructed to shuffle up and deal!

In a blind versus blind situation, OCD shoved to Audrey Verlomme, at risk for a short stack worth 18,000 and the latter quickly called with {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

Verlomme had the dominating hand, facing {10-Spades}{8-Hearts} for OCD, but the board revealed {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} to give a pair of tens on the turn to OCD and eliminate Verlomme right after the shuffle up and deal.

Good Start for El Yaacoubi

Prize Pool Announced

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

A total of 426 entries made on to the field of the Marrakech Poker Open Main Event . That player pool put the final prize pool at DH 4,892,000 (€489,200), with 55 players receiving a minimum cash of DH 26,000 (€2,600).

The eventual winner of the tournament will take home the trophy and DH 1,000,000 (€100,000) first-place prize.

Tedeschi Out

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

According to the table, Ahmed Bourma started the action under the gun with an open to 6,500 and Paul Tedeschi quickly three-bet to 22,000 in middle position. It came back to Bourma who made the call.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Bourma check-called Tedeschi's continuation for 18,000.

The same action happened on the turn {8-Diamonds} and the {9-Spades} showed up on the river. After some thinking, Bourma check-called again Tedeschi, who shoved for his last 25,000.

Bourma tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, which was good to take the pot as Tedeschi revealed {a-Spades}{10-Spades}. The recent winner of the MPO High Roller made his way out of the poker room while Bourma grabbed the chips.

Moutki Kicks Out Baltazar

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Bachir Moutki opened to 5,500 and it folded to Isabel Baltazar who called in the big blind.

All the chips went in middle on the flop {3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Baltazar check-raised all in for a stack around 44,000 after Moutki's continuation bet of 4,000 and te latter snap-called:

Moutki had hit a pair of queens and the rest of the board didn't change anything with the {8-Diamonds} and the {k-Clubs} to bust Baltazar from the event.
