Day 1bc Completed
Day 1b of the Marrakech Poker Open Main Event, running at the Es Saadi Resort, has now reached its conclusion after 13 full levels of play. A total of 164 entries were made to the flight and, of those, 33 players bagged to return for Day 2.
Francesco Pillitteri topped the pack and bagged as the chip leader with an incredible 694,000, which also gives him the overall chip lead heading into Day 2. Pillitteri was sitting on a fairly average stack right up until the end of the flight, when he found a massive triple up with a set of queens to bring him to the top.
WSOP bracelet winner Jonathan Stoeber, all the way from the USA, bagged in second place after a late double up with ace-king against his opponent's ace-ten gave him the momentum he needed. Stoeber bagged 582,000 chips.
Farmer Boy demonstrated a steady performance, maintaining a stack that he'd built early as did fellow Spanish player Yussuke. For Guillaume Darcourt, it was the opposite. The prolific French player was on a massive heater early on and was chip lead for much of the day before slowly burning off some chips and bagging in fifth place.

Day 1c also wrapped up at a similar time, with six players out of the 28 entries bagging and tagging for Day 2.
Streaming will start tomorrow, the bubble will burst, and play will reach the business end as players compete for their share of the €330,000 prize pool. So, there's lots to look forward to for players and readers alike.

93Thor and Truquens stacked off preflop, with Truquens all in and at risk for 141,000.
Truquens: A♥Q♣
93Thor: A♣5♠
The board ran out 3♦A♦K♠7♣A♠ and Truquens held to get a late double up. Elsewhere, Filippo Lazzaretto claimed a bustout to reduce the field and Alexandre Chas became the final player to bustout on Day 1b.
Picking up the action on the flop on a board of Q♣6♦8♦, Mouland had 110,000 in the middle, Ghost Rider75 had called the flop bet, then Francesco Pillitteri shoved for 226,000. Mouland made the call, the Ghost Rider75 put the rest of his chips in the middle and was covered by both of his opponents. Players revealed their cards.
Ghost Rider75: 8♥7♠
Francesco Pillitteri: Q♦Q♠
Mouland: A♦Q♥
Mouland had top pair, but Pillitteri was crushing both other players with his set of queens. The turn came the K♥ and river the A♣. Pillitteri won the pot, pretty much tripling up his stack and catapulting himself to the top of the chip counts with just a few more players left to bust before the day wraps up.
Level: 14
Blinds: 2,000/4,000
Ante: 4,000
Jonathan Stoeber was all in preflop from the button for 140,000 as PokerNews arrived and was looked up by Imad Derwiche, who had him covered as players flipped their cards.
Jonathan Stoeber: A♣K♠
Imad Derwiche: A♥10♥
The board ran out 3♠8♥K♣9♠7♠ and Stoeber improved to a pair of kings. He won the pot and doubled his stack, putting him among the chip leaders.
Guillaume Darcourt open-raised to 7,000 from the cutoff, "JJ08" called on the button, then Alexandre Chas moved all in from the big blind for 46,000. Darcourt called and JJ08 folded. Chas was at risk as players revealed their cards.
Alexandre Chas: Q♠8♠
Guillaume Darcourt: 10♥7♥
The board ran out J♣5♥6♦3♦3♥ and Chas held with queen-high and the pair of threes on board. He doubled his stack and, after nearly a full day of leading, Darcourt's stack looked slightly diminished.
