Norouzian Rivers Flush in Huge Pot

Chips were flying in on the flop on a board of 5♦7♥9♥ as this reporter arrived at the table.

The turn came the 8♦ and Shahin Norouzian checked. Carlos Dos Santos also checked before Sabry Ferhaoui fired out a bet of 17,000 into the already inflated pot. Both other players made the call, with Norouzian committing most of his stack.

The river was the 5♥ and Norouzian checked. Dos Santos and Ferhaoui checked to showdown. Norouzian showed A♥4♥ for the ace-high flush to win the pot.

"Did you smell the river, eh?", asked Ferhaoui. "I had only aces." Norouzian didn't offer a reply as he scooped in the pot to put himself among the chip leaders.

Picking up the action on the turn on a board of 7♦K♠5♥9♦, Abdou Zizi checked and "Alberto" fired out a bet of 11,000. Zizi then check-raised all in for 42,000, sending Alberto into the tank. Alberto folded and asked his opponent to show, to which Zizi showed the 9♠ and said that he had three nines.

Action was on the turn on a board of 9♣J♣K♣2♦ and Carlos Dos Santos checked to Sabry Ferhaoui, who placed out a bet. Dos Santos then check-raised to 12,000 and Ferhaoui called.

On the 10♠ river, Dos Santos shoved all in. Ferhaoui took a moment before confidently folding pocket kings face-up, a big fold and possibly a read that his opponent was on a straight or flush.

Elsewhere, Angelo Arman was left short stacked after his pocket queens when Cappricio1 made a set of jacks on the river, and "Hoyo" became the second player to bust before heading to the registration desk to rebuy.

Chas Cracks Opponent's Straight in Huge Early Pot

Picking up the action on the turn on a board of 3♥9♠8♦Q♠ with 5,300 in the pot, SZA led with a bet of 3,000 and Alexandre Chas raised to 7,000 from the button. SZA then reraised to 19,000 and Chas called.

With the pot now massive, the turn came the 6♠ and SZA pushed all in. Chas called for the rest of his 19,600 chips. SZA showed J♦10♣ for a straight, but Chas flipped over A♠8♠ for a rivered flush to win the pot and leave his opponent short.

At the same time, over on another table, Javier Tsunamy became the first player to bust on Day 1b. He has since rebought.

Fouad Ci open-raised to 700 from early position and picked up calls from Mohamed El Bakkouri, Sion Madar in the cutoff, Alfredo on the button, along with APGchaos in the big blind.

The flop came 3♦A♦4♠ and APGchaos checked to Ci, who made a continuation bet of 1,300. El Bakkouri called before Alfredo raised it up to 4,000. Ci called and the rest of the table folded.

Ci and Alfredo then checked it back on the 9♠ turn and again on the K♣ river to take it to showdown. Ci had A♠7♠ for top pair and Alfredo mucked.

"5-4 diamonds?" a neutral player asked. "Si", said Alfredo.

"Hoyo" open-raised from early position, Sabry Ferhaoui called on the button, Angelo Arman called in the small blind, and JJ08 called in the big blind.

The flop came 2♣A♦3♥ and action checked to "Hoyo", who made it 600 to go. All three other players made the call to see the 2♥ turn. The blinds checked again and "Hoyo" made it 1,200 to go, which only Ferhaoui called.

The river came the 5♦ and "Hoyo" bet 1,600. Ferhaoui responded with a raise to 4,300, which "Hoyo" called to take it to showdown. Ferhaoui had 6♥4♥ for the six-high straight. "Hoyo" mucked and Ferhaoui scooped a nice pot.
