Welcome to Day 3 of the 2015 Master Classics of Poker Main Event

Donald Rae leads the last 36 in Amsterdam
Donald Rae leads the last 36 in Amsterdam

Only 36 players out of a 291-entry strong field remain for Day 3 of the €4,250 LIDO Main Event of the Master Classics of Poker. Donald Rae is leading the field with 682,000 and the Brit only has one cash on his Hendon Mob profile, a 92nd place in the 2015 LAPT Bahamas Main Event in January. Play resumes in one hour from now at 14:00 local time at the Holland Casino in Amsterdam with levels of 90 minutes.

All remaining participants are in the money and have €5,762 locked up for their efforts while the winner on Friday walks home with an exclusive MCOP winner's plate, Skullcandy headphones and a first-place payout of €299,614. 2015 World Series of Poker Europe bracelet winner Makarios Avramidis (635,000) and fellow Greek Georgios Zisimopoulos (550,000) as well as [Removed:172] (536,000) and Timothy Adams (507,000) completed the very prominent top five at the start of the day.

Some notables returning to the tables include Przemyslaw Piotrowski (419,000), Joep van den Bijgaart (406,000), Ilan Boujenah (378,000), EPT5 Grand Final champion Pieter de Korver (293,000), EPT6 Copenhagen winner Anton Wigg (212,000), Bryan Paris (212,000), Jussi Nevanlinna (208,000), Pascal Vos (201,000), former November Niner Michiel Brummelhuis (195,000), Steven van Zadelhoff (195,000), Tobias Peters (182,000), poker super star Steve O'Dwyer (152,000), defending champion Ruben Visser (86,000), and EPT8 Prague champion Martin Finger (38,000). Visser is the only former MCOP winner still in with hopes of becoming the first ever two-times champion in Amsterdam.

Especially the start of the day is expected to be fast and furious with many short stacks at upcoming blinds of 3,000-6,000 with a running ante of 1,000. A maximum of seven levels will be played or until the final table of the last nine is reached, whichever of the two comes first. As usual, the PokerNews live reporting team will be there to cover all key hands until the last river card falls.

De Korver Cracks Emo's Queens

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Wim Emo
Wim Emo

Wim Emo opened and then called the three-bet of Pieter de Korver in the big blind, who had squeezed to 33,000 without checking his cards. On the {3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, de Korver continued for 46,000 and was called before moving all in on the {10-Spades} turn. Emo called with pocket queens and de Korver flipped over his {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

The {3-Hearts} river even gave de Korver a full house to rub it in even more, Emo left with a big grin on the face.

The Bustout of Anton Wigg

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Anton Wigg
Anton Wigg

Over on the feature table, Makarios Avramidis opened to 15,000 and Tobias Peters called before Anton Wigg shoved in the blinds for 70,000. Both Avramidis and Peters called to see the flop of {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Peters isolated successfully and then showed the {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, Wigg's hopes of a comeback with {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} were reduced to two outs only.

The {2-Hearts} turn and the {9-Hearts} river both blanked and Wigg took 30th place.

Leathem Busts in 28th

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Andrew Leathem
Andrew Leathem

Andrew Leathem had previously doubled on the feature table and left Steven van Zadelhoff short. Now he faced the raise of Makarios Avramidis to 13,000. Leathem three-bet to 29,000 and Avramidis four-bet to 47,000 before the Scot shoved for 212,000. Avramidis snap-called and that is never a good sign when you have pocket queens.

Leathem: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Avramidis: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

The board {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades} gave the Greek a full house and there is now a brief interruption of the action when the last three tables get balanced.

Ilan Boujenah Eliminated in 27th Place (€8,067)

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Ilan Boujenah
Ilan Boujenah

Niels van Alphen raised to 18,000 and Chris Dowling called in the small blind before Ilan Boujenah clicked to 44,000 from the big blind. Van Alphen then moved all in and Dowling folded, Boujenah quickly called.

Boujenah: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Van Alphen: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The {3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop and the {9-Hearts} turn were still good for the Frenchman, but the {K-Diamonds} river gave van Alphen a pair of kings and Bounejah a trip to the payout desk.

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Sampo Ryynanen
Sampo Ryynanen

Luuk Gieles moved all in for what looked like 40,000 chips after having lost his blinds and antes in the previous hands. Sampo Ryynanen reshoved from the button for 139,000 and Joep van den Bijgaart announced all in from the small blind to enforce a fold from Per Munksgaard.

Gieles: {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Ryynanen: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Van den Bijgaart: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{J-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} and that sent two players to the rail, who both receive €8,067 for their efforts.

Steven van Zadelhoff

Back from the quick break, Steven van Zadelhoff shoved from the small blind with {9-}{10-} and Tobias Peters called in the big blind with pocket threes to win the flip. Van Zadelhoff had been tearing up the online tables as of lately and added another cash to his live resume as well.

Clyde Tjauw Foe raised from late position and then called the shove of Ruben Visser for 96,000 out of the blinds.

Tjauw Foe: {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Visser: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The defending champion was at risk with a coin flip and fell behind on the flop {Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The {5-Hearts} turn was a great card to give plenty of outs, but it was not meant to be as the {9-Clubs} river bricked off.

Steve O'Dwyer Eliminated in 22nd Place (€8,067)

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Steve O'Dwyer three-bet all in with ace-queen and behind him Michiel Brummelhuis called with an even stack and the {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. The board ran out {Q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades} to leave O'Dwyer on just 3,000 chips.

One of those went in for the ante and Johan Verhagen had raised to 20,000. O'Dwyer called all in before Per Munksgaard shoved for 175,000 out of the blinds to isolate successfully.

Munksgaard: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
O'Dwyer: {6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

Verhagen said he folded ace-ten and that would have scored a double elimination on the board {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{A-Diamonds} with trips aces. O'Dwyer was eliminated in 22nd place.
