Day 1a Started
The Master Classics of Poker (MCOP) is one of the longest-running live poker tournament series still around. Last year, the festival doubled its schedule to include more than two dozen events to celebrate its 25th anniversary. This year's schedule is equally as big for its 26th edition, taking place at the Holland Casino Amsterdam.
The highlight of the poker festival is, of course, the MCOP €4,300 Main Event. Last year, Dutch player Hakim Zoufri won the event for €275,608 outlasting a field of 356 entrants.
That marked the fourth time this decade the trophy was kept on home soil as David Boyaciyan (2011 - €382,200), Noah Boeken (2013 - €306,821) and Ruben Visser (2014 - €306,821) also notched recent victories in the Main Event.
This year's Main Event should prove to be equally exciting. The tournament is a deep-stacked affair with players starting out with 30,000 in chips. Blind levels increase every 60 minutes during the first two opening flights on Nov. 17 and Nov. 21 and every 20 minutes during a turbo-flight on Nov. 21. Players are allowed to re-enter once per flight, and once more before the start-of-play on Day 2.
Players bagging chips will combine for Day 2 on Nov. 22 and the tournament will play through Nov. 24 until a winner is crowned. Starting on Day 3, blinds go up to 75 minutes, providing players a deeper structure.

The MCOP allows players to reenter once per day, and once before the start of play on Day 2. Players that are really unlucky (and really wealthy), could end up doing 7 bullets in this event for a total buyin of €30,100 with 3 starting days total.
Day 1a of the Main Event of the MCOP is traditionally the smallest of fields, a bigger crowd is expected for Day 1b. With the Main Event going on a hiatus until November 21st before Day 1b gets underway, some players opt to enroll a bit later. Still, more players are signing up and the tournament room is getting packed. That is, of course, also because there are several other tournaments running right now with Day 2 of the Omaha high roller and the final table of the Bounty event underway shortly.

The button opened for 250 and small blind Bart Spijkers called, as did Maxim Lykov in the big blind. Both blinds checked on and the initial raiser continued for 400. Spijkers hesitated not and called, Lykov folded.
Both active players checked the on the turn before Spijkers lead out for 1,325 on the river. The button reached for some chips and eventually raised to 3,000. Spijkers waited for a bit, frowned, and folded.

We picked up the action on the turn with the board reading . Tobias Peters, seated under the gun plus one, checked. Over on the button, Marc MacDonnell bet 4,600 and Peters called.
The on the river saw Peters check again. MacDonnell bet 8,000 and Peters went into the tank. After several minutes, he called.
MacDonnell showed and Peters mucked.
