Moreira de Melo Eliminated

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

We just missed it, but Fatima Moreira de Melo was kind enough to fill us in on the details of her bust out right after she hit the rail.

Farid Chati opened the action with a raise from middle position. He was called by Wim Emo (mid position), a player in late position, the small blind, and Moreira de Melo in the big blind.

The flop came {7-}{9-}{J-} with two diamonds and a heart. The action checked to Emo who bet 1,400. The small blind check-raised to 3,500 and Moreira de Melo shoved for 14,800. Initial raiser Chati and Emo folded, the small blind called.

The small blind showed {Q-}{10-} off suit for an open-ended. Moreira de Melo had the goods with {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the flopped straight and a flush draw on top.

The {8-Clubs} on the turn, however, did her in. The {6-Clubs} on the river wasn't one of the cards she was looking for and she left the tournament right before the level went up.

Ensan Eliminated

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

EPT champion Hossein Ensan has been eliminated. We just saw him get up with the board reading {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. He was the one at risk, presumably before the flop all in, with {K-Spades}{J-Spades} while his two opponents showed {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. The player with the full house took it down, Ensan made his way to the rail.

Feenstra On the Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Rens Feenstra is the proud owner of a stack worth 90,000 or so. He told us the details of the hand that was the major contributor to that impressive rise.

The cutoff opened for 1,100 and Feenstra called with {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} on the button. Bart Spijkers called from the big blind to make it three-handed. The flop came {J-}{5-}{3-} rainbow with a single heart and action checked to Feenstra who bet 1,300. Spijkers called before the initial raiser check-raised to 4,600. Feenstra called, Spijkers folded.

The {Q-Hearts} hit the turn and the initial raiser bet 7,400. Feenstra, now with a flush draw on top of his gutshot, called.

The {4-Clubs} on the river was the perfect card for Feenstra. His opponent shoved and Feenstra called and won against his neighbor's {A-}{8-}.

Right after telling us the details of that hand, the player under the gun shoved for 3,000. Feenstra, in the hijack, called and showed down {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} against {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. The board ran out {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and Feenstra eliminated a player.

Goldenbelt Takes Out Hollink

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Marcel Goldenbelt
Marcel Goldenbelt

WSOP bracelet and EPT winner Rob Hollink has been eliminated from the 2018 Master Classics of Poker Main Event. When we arrived, hiss eat was already vacant. We asked Marcel Goldenbelt if he remembered what had happened, and it turned out we were talking to the culprit.

A player in middle position opened for 900 and Hollink three-bet the button to 2,700. Goldenbelt cold four-bet to 7,600 from the small blind and the initial raiser folded. Hollink shoved for about 30,000 and Goldenbelt called.

Rob Hollink: {A-}{K-}
Marcel Goldenbelt: {J-}{J-}

The board brought no help to Hollink and he hit the rail. Goldenbelt, meanwhile, is up to 85,000.

Heinze Hits the Rail

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

We ran into Olvedo Heinze who was standing in the tournament area, talking to Raoul Refos.

Heinze told us how he lost his last twenty big blinds in a button versus big blind situation. Heinze had {A-}{Q-} but that hand proved no match to his opponents {A-}{A-}.

Before that, Heinze had lost a sizable portion of his stack with a set versus a rivered pair. "It all went downhill from there," Heinze said about the aftermath of the hand.

Brummelhuis Takes Down Van Puffelen

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

We saw Marijn van Puffelen inquire about the option to reenter, and bombarded him with questions about how his exit had come about.

Michiel Brummelhuis opened from early position with a raise to 1,000 and Van Puffelen, his neighbor, three-bet to 3,500. The small blind flat called before Brummelhuis shoved for effectively 30,000. Van Puffelen called, the small blind folded.

Brummelhuis showed {K-}{K-} while Van Puffelen had to do with {A-}{K-}. No ace or other helpful cards on the board and Van Puffelen made his way to registration for bullet number two.

Bart Spijkers Eliminated

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

Bart Spijkers' seat was empty and Spijkers himself was nowhere to be found. His former neighbors Jasper Wetemans and Rens Feenstra told us Spijkers was down to his last fourteen big blinds when he shoved with {Q-}{7-}. The player on the button called with {J-}{J-} and Spijkers found no help.

Spijkers still has the option to enter the MCOP, he can sign up before the start of Day 2 if he so wished. Wetemans and Feenstra, meanwhile, are both doing well with above average stacks.
