After a slow start of The One Drop here today at the 2022 Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party, it eventually all started kicking off around 5 p.m. local time. With 13 unique players, 18 entries were collected to get to a total prize pool of $174,600. After almost nine hours, Dusk Till Dawn founder and owner Rob Yong claimed his first-ever tournament victory for $87,000 by defeating Espen Jorstad heads-up.

Yong and Jorstad have teamed up for the Coin Rivet Invitational Powered by Triton Poker tournament which takes place in less than two weeks here at the amazing Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Casino and have gotten to know each other's play style a bit better now after playing heads-up for over an hour. After things wrapped up, they chatted for a bit with lots of smiles and respect toward each other.

The One Drop will also be looking forward to the $19,998 contribution as all 18 players paid the $1,111 donation to add an extra 20,000 to their stacks to start the day with 40,000 in chips.

Action of the Day

With six players in their seats, they asked if they could change the structure of the tournament which was initially slated as a two-day event. When their wishes were granted, the action was fast and furious. Phillip Nagy was eliminated by Albert Daher in the first hand of the day when he had flopped a set of sevens but Daher rivered a flush.

Gha Iakobishvili, Viktor Kudinov, and Sinan Unlu all busted too during the first three levels of the day. More players came and went away again. Kudinov used three bullets but failed to hit with all of them. Steve O'Dwyer and Daher tried twice and didn't get lucky either.

Yong Busts Everyone to Win

After most of the dust had settled, Daher fell to the hands of Yong in Level 9 to get the tournament to the bubble. Amarbayasgalan Sainjargal was on a downwards slope even though he had been chip leading for most of the day. After an hour on the bubble, Yong dealt the final blow to Sainjargal when the latter flopped a pair but Yong rivered the straight.

Nagy didn't seem to be able to catch a break either, he had to fold most hands as they contained a deuce in them. He managed to double up twice but Yong took him out too with a turned full house. Heads-up play lasted about an hour with Yong in the lead but for Jorstad to double up three times. However, Yong didn't give up and kept the pressure on Jorstad.

In the end, Jorstad had flopped a flush draw and bet to see Yong shove. He called and found out that Yong had flopped top pair. The turn brought two pair to Yong while the river wasn't a club either for Yong and his rail to celebrate his first tournament win.

Espen Jorstad
Espen Jorstad

Espen Jorstad called on the button and Rob Yong opted to check.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, Jorstad bet 16,000 for Yong to check-shove with the bigger stack. Jorstad called.

Espen Jorstad: {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Rob Yong: {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

The rail which consisted mostly of Luxon Pay employees and their guests flooded the feature table stage to cheer Yong on who had flopped top pair against the flush draw of Jorstad.

The turn was the {10-Hearts} for Yong to improve to two pair to leave Jorstad hoping for a jack for the straight draw or a club for the flush. But the river completed the board with the {k-Spades} instead for everyone to cheer as Yong and Jorstad shook hands. Jorstad laid claim to $52,600 while Yong has just won his first-ever tournament for $87,000 and the One Drop trophy.

Phillip Nagy: {10-Spades}{5-Spades}
Rob Yong: {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
