Borlan Makes the Right Call
Level 5
: Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Anthony Spinella just sat down in the $2,200 Grand Final and wasted no time in getting involved as he opened to 7,000 from the hijack. Dan Borlan called in the cutoff, and a player in the big blind also tagged along.
The flop came down 7♠10♦2♥ and it checked around to Borlan, who fired 10,000. The big blind called and Spinella got out of the way.
When the J♣ hit the river, the big blind elected to lead for 16,000, which Borlan promptly called to the 4♦ river. Again the big blind bet, this time for 55,000, sending Borlan into the tank. Around 20 seconds passed and Borlan was a non-believer, so stuck in a chip.
The big blind sheepishly flipped K♠Q♥ for a busted straight draw, and Borlan's A♥10♠ was good for the pot.
