Level 5 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Espen Jorstad
Espen Jorstad

Espen Jorstad came in with a raise to 10,000 from the hijack and Iraklis Manikaros defended from the big blind.

Manikaros knuckled the table on the 8JK flop, prompting Jorstad to bet 19,000. Manikaros slid in the call.

The turn came the 6 and Manikaros check-called another bet from Jorstad, this time for 40,000.

The 4 fell on the river and both players checked. Manikaros turned over the winner with KJ for a flopped two pair.

Chernikov Backdoors Trips to Crack Kings

Level 4 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Aleksandr Chernikov
Aleksandr Chernikov

Aleksandr Chernikov just flexed his muscles after spiking the river to double up through Kemal Aslan.

The board read J42 and with almost 100,000 in the pot, Chernikov checked from the small blind. Aslan then fired 28,000 out of the big blind, and Chernikov check-raised to 101,000. Aslan used some extra time before he shoved, and Chernikov called off his stack which totaled 214,000.

Chernikov decided to run his open-ended straight draw and did pick up a few more outs when the 3 hit the turn, giving him a pair. The three repeated on the 3 river, improving Chernikov to trips and prompting him to stand up and flex his guns like a bodybuilder. Aslan also got up but not in celebration as his Cowboys couldn't lasso the pot his way.

Anghel Runs Into Khamatgareev's Bigger Boat

Level 3 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Rustam Khamatgareev
Rustam Khamatgareev

There was a raise to 6,000 from middle position and two calls before Vasile Valentin Anghel squeezed to 31,000 from the small blind. Only Rustam Khamatgareev called from the hijack.

Anghel continued with a bet of 20,000 on the 1073 flop, and Khamatgareev called.

The turn came the 10 and Anghel slowed down and checked. Khamatgareev now bet out for 20,000 himself. Anghel put in the call.

The river was the 10 and Anghel checked for the last time. Khamatgareev bet 55,000, and after a few moments, Anghel check-raised to 190,000. Khamatgareev tossed in all of his time bank chips, and thought for around two minutes, before making the call.

Anghel showed A7 for a full house, tens full of sevens. However, he lost the pot to the Khamatgareev's better boat with 88

Joseph Mouawad
Joseph Mouawad

Baltazar Five just got a huge boost to his stack and is nearing a million now after just being on the right side of a cooler.

There were already around 100,000 chips in the pot on a 3Q2 board when both Baltazar Five and Joseph Mouawad put in 75,000 to see a 7 turn. Baltazar Five shoved for around 400,000, and Mouawad eventually called off his remaining 250,000.

Baltazar Five: AA

The job wasn't done for Baltazar Five as he had to fade a king or a diamond on the river to secure the pot, but he did manage to do so when the 4 completed the runout.

Sergei Kim
Sergei Kim

Sergei Kim made it 5,500 from early position and Yevhen Sukhov three-bet to 25,000 out of the big blind. Kim called.

The dealer put out a flop of JQ7 and Sukhov continued with a bet of 22,000. Kim made the call.

The turn came the 7 and Sukhov bet again, this time for 35,000. Kim once again made the call.

The 2025 Mediterranean Poker Party $5,300 Main Event is unfolding at a more gradual pace compared to last year’s record-breaking edition. Day 1a drew 227 entries, down from 349 in 2024, with 55 players bagging up chips versus 88 a year ago. Today’s Day 1b has already crossed the 200-entry mark by Level 2, setting the stage for a strong turnout.

Last year’s Main Event ultimately reached 1,260 entries, generating a massive prize pool that saw Azamat Lamkov walk away with the trophy, the title, and $1,000,000 for his victory after four days of play.

This year, with an expanded structure that features five Day 1 flights—including two turbos—players have more chances to jump in and chase their share of the $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. While early numbers may be slightly behind, the action is just getting started, and the best may still be to come.

The cards will be back in the air at noon local time for Day 1b of the $5,300 Main Event at the 2025 Mediterranean Poker Party, where another wave of hopefuls will take their shot at poker glory inside the dazzling Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa.

Following the same format as Day 1a, players will navigate 12 levels—the first ten lasting 40 minutes, followed by two longer 50-minute levels—as they try to survive and stack chips for Day 2.

With a $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool up for grabs, the pressure is on to build a bag and avoid the turbo flights still to come. Yesterday’s Day 1a saw 227 entries whittled down to 57 survivors, led by Russia’s Aren Bezhanyan, who set the early pace with a towering 4,245,000 chip stack.
