After five starting flights, including one that was added to the schedule, Day 2 of the $2,200 Global Poker Championship is about to take place here at the 2026 Mediterranean Poker Party, running at the luxurious Merit Crystal Cove Casino.
Total entry numbers reached 830, with the 106 players who have already made it through to be joined by those who find the bag on Day 1e, which is still running. All players who made Day 2 are in the money and will be looking to play for a big slice of the $2,000,000 prize pool.
Day 1a chip leader Sergei Petrushevskii is still at the top of the counts with 2,420,000, closely tailed by Day 1d chip leader Aren Bezhanyan, who has 2,360,000 chips. Bezhanyan has over $6 million in tournament winnings and demonstrated his prowess at previous Merit events, including final table finishes at the Onyx SHRS.

Day 2 kicks off at 4 p.m. local time, with a generous blind structure of 50-minute levels. The event was supposed to play down to the final table tonight, but that may be subject to change given the later starting time, which was adjusted to allow for Day 1e to be added to the schedule.
