Bezhanyan Triples Up in Wild Hand
Somebody sound the monster pot siren!
Jalal Jafari opened to 80,000 from under the gun and Aren Bezhanyan three-bet to 230,000 on the button. Mohamed El-Wely cold-called from the small blind, and Jafari also called.
The flop came 5♦9♦2♥ and El-Wely decided to lead for 85,000. Jafari called before Bezhanyan shoved for 710,000. El-Wely wasted no time in calling, then Jafari back-raised all in for 1,575,000. El-Wely started counting out his stack and after putting in the 710,000, he realized he had around 1,000,000 behind. After thinking a bit longer, he elected to fold, despite the great odds he was getting.
Aren Bezhanyan: A♣5♥
Jalal Jafari: A♦3♦
El-Wely was furious after seeing the cards turned on their backs and told his friend that he folded pocket eights. There was still a runout to come, but the 9♥10♠ turn and river changed nothing as Jafari missed his combo draw, which meant Bezhanyan scooped a massive pot with his pair of fives.
"You have nothing!" shouted El-Wely to Jafari, who was visibly frustrated at why Jafari didn't just call on the flop. Regardless, what's done is done and Bezhanyan stormed back up the leaderboard with a stack of around 3,000,000.
