Day 2 Started

After four starting flights at Moneymaker's Road to PSPC 2020 here at the Hippodrome Casino at Le Meridien, Piccadilly the remaining players will resume for Day 2 with the field all in the money.

The tournament attracted a total of 464 entries and after each starting flight played down to 15% just 71 players remain, and there is a familiar name sitting atop the chip counts.

After Simon Green (Day 1a - 347,000), Savvas Mitsikouridis (Day 1b - 498,500) and Stephen Green (Day 1c - 588,000) emerged as chip leader of their respective flights, Chris Moneymaker soared to within touching distance of 600,000 after bagging 597,000 to lead the remaining players.

Moneymaker had told us yesterday that his luck so far on the Moneymaker Tour hasn't been as good as last season, but perhaps this is a sign his luck is about to change.

Both he and the remaining field are guaranteed £217 with a first prize of £10,454 and grab a coveted Platinum Pass worth more than €26,000 (approx. $30,000).

Cards in the Air

PokerStars Ambassador Chris Moneymaker, who happens to also be the chip leader, was on hand to announce the shuffle up and deal at the start of Day 2.

"Thanks for coming down and supporting the tournament. I want to wish everyone good luck. Obviously, everyone's in the money today. One of the common questions I get asked when I'm doing these things, is what happens if I win? Well, to answer your question I don't win the pass. Whoever comes second wins the pass, and I juts get all the money!

"Win-win situation, for me and you. I think half the field has already bust me on one of the Day 1s - I think I fired five or six bullets - so have fun today. We're gonna be playing down to a final table today. So have a good time, everybody shuffle up and deal!"

Lovelock Wins Despite Scary Runout

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Colin Lovelock limped on the button and Cedric Lorblanchet raised to 15,000 in the small blind. Lovelock called and the flop was {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Lovelock called a bet of 22,000 and then called another bet of 25,000 when the {2-Clubs} came on the turn.

The river was the {4-Clubs}. Lorblanchet counted out a bet before checking and Lovelock instantly checked behind.

"You win," said Lorblanchet and Lovelock showed {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a flush to scoop an early pot.

Baker Over 700,000

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

On a {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{j-Clubs} river, Jai Patel had checked out of the big blind and Stephen Baker assembled a bet, before moving it out in front of him in two instalments. Adjudged a string bet by the dealer, the bet was 65,000 into a pot of over 180,000.

Patel called and Baker showed {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for a straight. Patel open-mucked {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Baker took down the pot.

Hayes Cracks Kings to Double

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

After an open to 12,500 and a call on the button, Richard Hayes called in the big blind.

The flop came {10-}{7-}{3-} and it checked to the pre-flop aggressor who continued for 25,000. The button folded and Hayes moved all in for around 150,000. His opponent called with {k-}{k-} but was behind to the {10-}{7-} of Hayes.

The turn was another {10-} giving Hayes a full house, with the river a brick handing him the double up.
