Sohel in but Down

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Mohammed Sohel is another familiar face, after playing in some of the earlier flights. He has just taken a big hit to his stack after clashing with two other players since he sat down.

Action was on the turn with {7-Spades}{k-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} on show and first to act, Sohel checked. The player on the cutoff bet 12,000 and the button flat-called. Back to Sohel and he moved all in for 36,000. The first player folded but not the button and when the cards were shown, Sohel was in big trouble.

Alejandro Rodriguez: {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Mohammed Sohel: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The {6-Clubs} river wasn't one of the two cards that Sohel needed and now he is looking to spin up his very short stack. Meanwhile that pot gives Rodriguez a very healthy stack that is a little over two times the average.

Kassa Doubles

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

PokerNews may well be experiencing Deja Vu. Getnet Kassa has just doubled with {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} on a {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} board, after sitting down not long ago. The same thing happened to him a couple of days ago in Day 1b, when he doubled up in the very first hand of the day.

Nikolaidi Chipping Up

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

The turn was out and the board read {7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The player in the big blind checked to Irina Nikolaidi and she moved all in for 12,300. He called and they turned over their hands.

Irinia Nikolaidi: {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

It was top pair vs overcards and a flush draw and the river fell the {10-Clubs}, giving Nikolaidi two pair to win the pot.

Monster Hand Clash Leads to Double Elimination

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

After proclaiming about the lack of eliminations witnessed so far, the poker Gods seem to have intervened. Once the dust had settled on the last hand, two players had busted, whilst one takes the early chip lead.

It began with a 600 open from Anton Katsoulakis over on newly-opened Table 4. Rungarun Thongnonsung flat called on his left and the small blind did the same. Over to the big blind and he raised to 2,600. Katsoulakis flatted and Thongnonsung decided to move all in for 18,600. It was enough to convince the small blind to step aside but not the big blind player, who went all in over the top for a total of 30,000. The action didn't stop there, with Katsoulakis over calling and the trio turned over their cards.

Anton Katsoulakis: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Rungarun Thongnonsung: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The flop ran out {10-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, holding for the preflop favorite and, with the most chips in play, it signalled the end for the other two players. It is unlikely to be the last of Thongnonsung as she told PokerNews she was probably going to re-enter as she headed towards the registration desk.

Manohar Gives Hegedus Respect

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

The flop was out and it read {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. Gabor Hegedus bet 1,200 and Kevin Manohar called on his left. It was just the two of them as they headed to the turn.

It came the {8-Diamonds} and Hegedus bet 2,000, which Manohar called again. The river was the {5-Clubs} and another quick bet, a barrel of 3,000, saw Manohar concede. He showed the {a-Diamonds} in doing so and Hegedus looked a little surprised that Manohar had folded top pair.

Katsoulakis Sticks Around

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Two players were looking at a {5-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts} board. The player in middle position check-raised Anton Katouslakis' 1,000 bet to 3,000 and he called.

The {7-Hearts} completed the board and after another check, Katsoulakis bet 3,000. There was no check-raise this time and he took down the pot.
