Lyons Snap-Calls with Second Pair

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Paul Lyons has added 7,800 to his (somewhat diminished) Level 6 stack. He opened preflop, picking up one out-of-position caller. Lyons bet 1,200 when it was checked to him on the {j-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop. His opponent called and they checked through the {k-Diamonds} turn. On the {5-Clubs} river, his opponent fired 5,100 and Lyons had called before the chips came to a complete stop.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Lyons: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Valentine Flies MacIntyre Airways to Late Register Day 1d

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

In possibly the most boss arrival at a Moneymaker Tour event ever, Fraser MacIntyre has flown his own plane up to Newcastle after Fear of Missing Out got the better of him. Anxious passenger Mark Valentine said of the experience, "I thought a lady would offer me champagne. Instead we were out in the pishing rain uncovering the plane ourselves."

"We were absolutely soaked," said MacIntyre, as he joined the queue to buy in.

Farrell and Dulko in the Mix

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Edita Dulko
Edita Dulko

A late night for poker couple Niall Farrell and Edita Dulko yesterday was no bar to playing in the Main Event's final flight; both are in action at the tables as Level 6 draws to a close.

Dulko was put to the test on the turn of a {4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{j-Spades} board by Julian Twigg just now, as he moved in for 14,100. The pot was already 19,800; she considered the board, gave Twigg a brief staredown and mused, "Flush draw? Set of deuces..." before finally making the call.

Dulko: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Twigg: {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}

Neither of Dulko's outs appeared on the river and she nodded, saying, "nice hand."

It looks like John Stanton has the current chip lead, half way through Day 1d with 127,000. His most recent chip acquisition: the final 10,700 of a player who open-shoved in late position with {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} only to find Stanton lurking on the button with {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. A run-out of {8-Spades}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} has prompted yet another re-entry.

Dunwoodie Drops To Dust

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Daniel Oliver has secured a full double-through courtesy of Thomas Dunwoodie. The pot of 61,000 was being shipped to Oliver when we caught the hand, the board lying {2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}, Oliver's {a-}{a-} beating Dunwoodie's {5-}{5-}; it seems that the flop was the point at which the majority of the money went in.

The next hand, Oliver opened for 2,300, Dunwoodie took the plunge with 400 chips and Haji Hussein called in the small blind. Oliver bet off Hussein on the {j-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop with a lead for 1,500, showing down {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Dunwoodie, who hadn't looked at his hand, showed the {2-Spades} with delight (along with the {4-Clubs}). He faded paint to more than triple up, but is still in dire shape chip-wise.

Bust - But Not for Long

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Players still have Level 8 and its attendant break to re-enter. The last few bust-outs have been followed by quick trips to the cash machine and the purchase of fresh 30,000 stacks.

Daglish Doubles, Dulko Drops

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A short stacked-player was all in preflop, betting on the side between Steven Daglish (fresh off his re-entry) and Edita Dulko.

Flop: {k-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. Daglish moved all in for 23,600, Dulko made the call with what turned out to be the nut flush draw.

All in player: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Daglish: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Dulko: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Daglish faded hearts over the {7-Diamonds}{8-Spades} turn and river, busted the all-in player despite having started the hand dominated and doubled to a healthy 56,000. Dulko, meanwhile, rued the swingy nature of tournament No Limit Hold'em: "I just doubled up! Back to starting stack."

"As long as I faded the snap-call," Daglish said, "I was fine!"
