Double Up for Santos

Ross Santos just doubled up after flopping top set of sixes and getting his money in against a player holding top pair and a gutshot straight draw. Santos' set of sixes held and he doubled to just over 50,000 chips.

Durrrr's Stack Dwindling

With the board reading {8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Tom Dwan check-called a bet of 2,150 from his opponent.

Both checked when the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn and Dwan checked the {7-Hearts} river card. His opponent fired 5,800 and "durrrr" didn't appear thrilled, but made the call anyway.

His opponent tabled {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for a rivered full house and Dwan mucked, dropping to just over 10,000.

Battle of the Big Stacks

Lars Bonding
Lars Bonding
We missed the action before the river, but arrived to catch Melanie Weisner checking a {9-Spades} {7-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {2-Hearts} board. Lars Bonding bet 10,500, and Weisner called. He tabled {9-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}, and trip nines was good for the pot. The hand boosted Bonding to over 125,000, leaving Weisner with a still top ten 110,000.

Mercier Sniffs Out a Problem

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier
We're just a few minutes from the next break, and Jason Mercier will have gone into having dodged a huge land mine. It was a little unclear how the action started. An early position player was in the pot. Mercier had 2,200 chips in front of him in late position, with the player to his left just calling that raise. The first player in the hand then put in another raise, to 7,300 total.

Mercier, sitting behind about 50,000 chips, tanked for several minutes, having cut out calling chips from his stacks. Twice he seemed as if he were about to put those chips in the pot before thinking better of the iea. He finally folded.

The player behind Mercier then raised all in for about 18,000 and was called. He had {a-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}, which held up against the early-position player's {K-Clubs} {J-Spades}.

Hat Tricks

Mr. Deeb incognito
Mr. Deeb incognito
Shaun Deeb has been trying to fly under the radar today in "you can't see me if I can't see you" fashion. But his long hair and hat seem to be attracting more attention than they deflect. Daniel Negreanu shouted from a few tables over about Deeb's suave headgear. Jonathan "Dainty" Aguiar, seated between their tables, asked Negreanu if Deeb could play in the Big Game if he wore the hat, and Negreanu said no hats or sunglasses were allowed.

Deeb took the opportunity to needle Negreanu about a hand shown in the WSOP Europe telecast in which Shaun and Daniel have, lets call it differing opinions, about the legality of one of Negreanu's raises. Since Negreanu said no hats were allowed, Deeb asked if string raises were. "Totally cool," said Negreanu. "You can even put your hand over the line, and if they call, say 'Ha, I was just kidding!'"

Dwan Fades A Lot Of Outs To Double

We caught up with this multi-way pot on the {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{A-Hearts} flop. It was checked to Tom Dwan on the button and he bet 3,000. Jonathan Tare went all in from the small blind for 14,175. It folded back to Dwan and he called all in for about 13,000. The hands were:

Dwan: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Tare: {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The {7-Clubs} turn and {9-Clubs} river were blanks for Tare and he's down to just 1,300.

Dwan doubled to about 30,000.

Selbst Doubles

Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst
An early-position player raised to 1,600 and a middle-position player made it 3,500. Vanessa Selbst popped it to 9,400 in the hijack and was only called by the player in middle position.

The flop came down {3-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and it was checked to Selbst. She shoved for 17,450 and was insta-called by her opponent. Selbst needed help with {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} against her opponent's {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. The {10-Hearts} turn card was a blank for Selbst, but the {9-Clubs} river card gave her a straight to win the pot.

She is up to about 58,000.
