Marchese Hanging On

NAPT Venetian champion Tom Marchese is still in the hunt here at Mohegan Sun but it's not coming easy for him today. He's down to 42,000 after losing a small heads-up pot. Marchese was in late position and bet 4,200 after his sole opponent, the big blind, checked an {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} flop. That player called Marchese's bet.

The action checked all the way down from there, {8-Spades} on the turn and {4-Hearts} on the river. The big blind showed {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} to collect the pot.

Wasicka Wins One

Paul "Kwickfish" Wasicka raised from the highjack to 2,800, and the cutoff three-bet to 6,800. Wasicka wasn't intimidated at all, sliding out a raise to 19,000. His opponent gave up the hand with a sigh. After stealing a few more small pots, Wasicka is up to 104,000.

Selbst Still Cruising

Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst
We came to Vanessa Selbst's table with the {5-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} already on board. Selbst had the button and was heads-up against the cutoff. That player bet 5,000, then folded to Selbst's raise to 13,000.

"Because I'm usually bluffing there..." began Selbst. She then showed a flopped flush, {9-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. "I probably shouldn't have showed but I don't want you to think I'm always bluffing."

Wax On, Wax Off

A big multi-way pot developed on one of the tables of death after Tom Marchese opened to 3,000. McClean Karr put on his sunglasses before making the call. Todd Terry tossed in 3,000 from the cutoff, and Matthew Waxman thought for a minute before flatting as well.

The flop fell {10-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {3-Spades}. Tom bet out 6,200, and Karr quickly folded. Terry called, and Waxman bumped it to 16,700. Marchese and Terry both took their time in the tank, but both found folds, shipping the nice pot to Waxman.
