Fricke Loses Some Ground

Jimmy Fricke
Jimmy Fricke
The cutoff seat raised to 525 after action folded around to him and then Jimmy Fricke called from the button. The player in the small blind called as well and then the big blind folded, leaving three players to the flop.

The first three cards onto the felt were the {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. The small blind checked and then the preflop raiser fired 1,050. Fricke called and the other player folded.

The turn card was the {8-Clubs} and both players left checked.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} and the cutoff seat fired 3,000 into Fricke. After a few minutes in the tank, Fricke tossed in the call. His opponent showed him a full house with the {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Fricke mucked his cards, dropping back to 37,000 after the hand.

Cada Improving

Joe Cada just stormed up to 65,000 chips after making a full house with pocket fours on a board of {J-?}{J-?}{5-?}{4-?}{3-?}. Cada busted a player in the process who held about 25,000 chips.

Smith Busts One

On a board of {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}, two players checked to the last player to act. He bet 4,200. The first player folded and then the next player that had checked was Gavin Smith. Smith check-raised to 15,000, which was enough to put his opponent all in. The player tanked for several minutes before finally committing the rest of his stack. The hand he did it on was just ace high with the {A-?}{J-?} offsuit. Smith had him drawing very slim with the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}. Only an ace on the river would save the player and cost Smith the pot.

The river card was the {5-Diamonds} and Smith's jacks were still the best hand. He was able to bust the player and collect the hefty pot to put himself up to just over 50,000.

Kopp Out

After a few players limped into the pot preflop, the flop came down {6-?}{6-?}{3-?}. Billy Kopp fired 600 and one player called. Another player raised to 1,600. Kopp then made it 5,050 and the caller in between folded. The raiser went all in and Kopp made the call, holding pocket threes and a flopped full house. His opponent held {6-?}{4-?} for trip sixes.

After a four fell on the turn, Kopp's tournament was over with the river card not producing the miracle case three.

BeL0Wbe0UT

Kevin "BeL0WaB0Ve" Saul called his shot last night at the PokerStars party. Although he wouldn't guarantee a win, he was pretty confident about making the final table. It was not to be, however. Neither was making the fourth level.

Saul fell to 17,000 early but built back to starting stack in typical hyper-aggressive fashion. No one blinked when he made a standard raise to 600, and the button repopped to 4,000. But this time, Saul had a hand - pocket kings.

He thought he was angle-shooting for value when he raised to 8,000 and then pretended he was just confused about the chip colors. Not so, as the button shoved. Saul snap called to discover that he'd run his cowboys squarely into aces. No help from the board, and that's Saul she wrote.

Negreanu's Mis-Bet No Problem

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu started the day by doubling up on the third hand he played. He's given some of that back and is once again attempting to claw his way up with the rest of the pack.

Negreanu was a late-position pre-flop raiser in a recent hand and was re-raised by the player in the cutoff. Negreanu called, creating an 11,000-chip pot. Both players checked the board all the way to the river, {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. That's where Negreanu made a rainbow bet of one brown chip (10,000), one red chip (5,000) and one yellow chip (1,000). His opponent gave the matter some thought and then folded.

"I meant to bet 11,500," remarked Negreanu with a smile as the pot was pushed to him. He's now sitting behind 40,000.

Moneymaker's Bluff Called

Chris Moneymaker is all business when he's at a poker table. Hat, sunglasses, and a stone face have become Moneymaker's table look. But even Moneymaker, having honed that image over 7 years on the tournament circuit, can still betray some emotion.

In a battle of the blinds, Moneymaker opened a {7-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {8-Spades} flop for 800. His opponent raised to 2,200 and Moneymaker called. Both players checked when the third spade fell on the turn, {K-Spades}. That gave Moneymaker an opening to fire 3,000 on a {Q-Hearts} river. His opponent, however, wasn't about to lay down trips and made the call with {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}.

After Moneymaker flipped his cards into the muck, he shook his head ever so slightly and his shoulders heaved a sigh. His stack is down to 25,000.

Greenstein Loses One

Dennis Phillips limped in from early position before Barry Greenstein raised to 1,300. The big blind called and then Phillips called as well.

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Spades} and action checked to Greenstein. He fired 2,000 and the big blind raised to 6,000. Phillips folded and then Greenstein folded as well.

Nam Le Over 70k

Nam Le
Nam Le
A player in early position raised to 900 and one player flatted in middle position before action moved over to Nam Le on the button. Le reraised to 2,800 and the first raiser folded. The caller in middle position called again.

The flop came down {6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades} and the player checked to Le. After asking how much the player had left in his stack (7,525), Le put him all in. The player folded and Le picked up the pot.

On the next hand, the player that took the flop with Le last hand, limped in from middle position. Le raised to 1,100 and the big blind called. The limper also called.

The flop was {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and action checked to Le. He fired a bet of 2,400 and both his opponents folded. With those two pots added to his stack, Le is up to 71,000.
