Turner Back to Earth

Jon Turner was up to half a million chips just a short time ago, but he's come all the way back down to 300,000. His latest setback was to the tune of roughly 60,000. Turner opened a pot from late position, only to have the big blind move all in for an additional 51,000.

Turner thought and thought, then took a flyer with {K-Hearts} {8-Spades}. He was up against a pair, but it wasn't as small as he perhaps had hoped: the big blind showed down {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}. The board didn't help Turner, {6-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}.

Billirakis Vying for Chip Lead

Now that we've identified him, we can tell you that Steve Billirakis is having a hell of a Day 2. He may be the current chip leader; certainly his 560,000 chips rank as a Top Five stack.

Billirakis just relieved an opponent of 60,000 chips. On the turn of a {Q-Hearts} {9-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {6-Spades} board, Billirakis led out for 12,000. His opponent put in a minium-raise to 24,000; Billirakis re-raised to 60,000. His opponent thought and called, then folded to a 50,000-chip bet on the {A-Diamonds} river. Billirakis kindly showed {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} all the same.

Pilgrim's Opponent Fights Back

From the hijack seat, Dwyte Pilgrim raised to 8,000 and only got one caller from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} and the big blind checked. Pilgrim bet 10,900 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and both players checked before the river completed the board with the {8-Diamonds}. The big blind fired 27,000 and Pilgrim folded, dropping to 220,000 chips. His opponent showed him the {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} for just a pair of threes.

Ketteringham Runs Kings into Aces

It's good to be a big stack. It's even better to be a big stack when you run your kings into someone else's aces. Mark Ketteringham could have been really hurt if he didn't have such a huge stack after taking {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} to war pre-flop against a short stack's {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}. But as things stand, paying off 66,900 chips after failing to improve, {Q-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {4-Clubs}, merely reduced Ketteringham's count to about 400,000.

LuckyChewy Lives Up to His Name

In a minute, all of Bonding's chips will magically appear in front of Chewy.
In a minute, all of Bonding's chips will magically appear in front of Chewy.
Bad news for the rest of the field. There's a new chip leader in town. And he knows what to do with a big stack. Andrew Lichtenberger and Lars Bonding, sitting to Chewy's direct left, have been tangling for the last several hours. But no matter what their history, it was all going in when Lichtenberger got aces and Bonding picked up kings. Chewy doubled his stack and is now sitting behind a mountain of more than 700,000.

Lars Bonding got his last chips in a few hands later in a three-way pot with Lichtenberger and another player. The flop came {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}, the third player shipped, and Chewy folded. Bonding tabled his pocket eights and was drawing deader than dead to quad queens. Bonding has had an amazing run during this round of the Venetian Deep Stack, winning two events, but he's not going to get a chance to make it three.

Monkey off his Back

Justin "Boosted J" Smith just scooped a pot when his jacks held up against Will "Monkey" Souther's {A-Spades} {5-Clubs}. Boosted tweeted, "Just busted a guy whose first name was 'monkey' I saw his I'd lol...175k."
