Another Three-Bet Takes It Down

Joe Tehan opened with a raise to 110,000 from the cutoff seat. He just three-bet Ray Henson's open to win the last hand. Anh Van Nguyen reraised from the small blind to 285,000. Jason Mercier folded in the big blind before action got back to Tehan. Tehan didn't snap fold, but he didn't continue either. About 20 seconds passed before Tehan tossed it away and Nguyen won the pot.

Nguyen All In for the Win

Joe Tehan raised to 110,000 from the hijack and Anh Van Nguyen moved all in from the button for 740,000. Both blinds folded and action was back on Tehan. He thought about it for a moment and then made the call.

Tehan: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Nguyen: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

Nguyen was in a dominating position and the {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} only made him stronger with an additional straight draw. The {a-Hearts} on the turn gave him the Broadway straight, but also gave Tehan two kings to a chop. However, the river was the {10-Spades} and Nguyen won the hand, doubling to 1.57 million, while Tehan dropped to 3.45 million.

Mercier's Lucky Shirt

Mercier's lucky shirt
Mercier's lucky shirt

Jason Mercier has a thing. That thing involves a dark, long-sleeved, collared shirt with tan and white stripes. You see, when Mercier won his first event back in 2008 at EPT San Remo, he wore this shirt. He also had this shirt on when he won the EPT London High Roller the same year a few months later. Fast forward to earlier this year. Mercier had the same shirt on when he took down the NAPT Mohegn Sun High Roller Bounty Shootout. When he wears it at a final table, he finishes the deal and walks away with the first-place prize. All together, Mercier's won nearly $2.8 million when he rocks this striped shirt.

Mercier is wearing the shirt again today and came into the table second in chips. Does this mean he'll be walking out of here with another trophy? We wouldn't bet against it given the past.

Tehan All In Against the Chip Leader

Action folded to Chris DeMaci on the button and he raised to 130,000. Jacob Toole folded the small blind and Joe Tehan reraised to 235,000 from the small blind. DeMaci responded by raising an additional 450,000 and Tehan moved all in for 2.145 million total. DeMaci snap-called and the cards were turned over:

Tehan: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
DeMaci: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

Tehan was in good shape and was looking to dodge an ace and clubs. He did just that as the flop fell {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. The tension around the table could be cut with a knife as the dealer burned and turned the {6-Diamonds}. All Tehan needed to do was dodge an ace on the river, which is exactly what he did as the {3-Hearts} appeared.

Tehan is up to 4.2 million while DeMaci dropped to around 4.6 million.

Flushed Board

Ray Henson raised to 115,000 from the button and Jacob Toole flatted from the big blind. The flop came down {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Toole checked to Henson who continuation bet 160,000. Toole called behind and both players watched the {9-Clubs} peel off on the turn.

Once again Toole checked and Henson bet, this time to the tune of 290,000. Toole didn't back down and made the call. The river was the {4-Clubs} and put a flush on the board. Toole checked to Henson who bet 420,000. It proved too much for Toole who folded and gave up the hand. Henson added around 600,000 to his stack while Toole dropped 565,000.
