Roothlus Runs Afoul

Adam "Roothlus" Levy was wandering around the room looking like he needed to tell a bad beat story to someone, so we obliged him.
Roothlus had about 60,000 chips in front of him when all hell broke loose on a 
flop. With his pocket sevens flopping a set, Levy got himself all in against the 
of his opponent with a big pot up for grabs.
The turn 
added another few outs for Levy to fade, and he could not do so. The 
landed on fifth street, and Roothlus has been flushed out the door.
"Okay, I feel better now," he said as he wrapped up the story and headed out into the scenic streets of Bell Gardens.
Habib Hanging Around
With about 6,000 in the pot and a board reading 
, Hasan Habib led out with a bet of 5,600 and inspired both his opponents to fold. "Overpair," Habib said jokingly as he flashed 
. The 2000 WSOP Final Tablist took down the small pot and increased his stack to 33,000.
Bonomo Check-Raises Carroll
From under the gun, Justin Bonomo raised to 2,200. Action moved over to James Carroll in the cutoff seat and he reraised to 5,700. Bonomo made the call when action got back to him.
The flop came down 
and Bonomo checked. Carroll fired 7,800. Bonomo asked Carroll how much he had behind and Carroll broke it down to reveal he had 23,200 behind. Bonomo then tossed out a bunch of blue T5,000 chips to put Carroll all in. Carroll snap-folded and Bonomo won the pot.
A Vanishing Act
Antonio Esfandiari got off to a hot start on Day 1a, and he was the second player to crest the 100,000-chip mark during the mid-afternoon hours. The first, John Phan, is still going strong with his big stack.
The same can not be said for "The Magician" as it appears Esfandiari has been sent to the exit here shy of the end of Level 8.
Baker Dusted
Mandy Baker has been eliminated. She's not happy about it, and neither are we.
Pardon the Interruption
Tom Middleton raised to 2,000 from under the gun and then action moved around the table the Matt Woodward. He was on the button and reraised to 5,500. After the blinds folded, Middleton made the call, but not before hearing his name called over the PA system. He was then delivered Barry Greenstein's book Ace On the River. Middleton was the player who busted Greenstein, but the Robin Hood of Poker was a little late in getting him the autographed book he always gives the player who eliminates him.
The flop came down 
and Middleton checked. Woodward fired 8,000 and Middleton folded. That pot allowed Woodward to improve to 125,000.
Shake Your Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker is heading in wrong direction as of late. He recently doubled an opponent after his pocket jacks failed to hold up against big slick. A couple of hands late, Moneymaker raised to 2,000 from middle position and was called by the player in the small blind.
Both players checked the 
flop as well as the turn. When the hit the river, the small blind bet 2,200 and Moneymaker tossed his cards in the muck. He is down to 42,000.
Son of a Bergeron!
Craig Bergeron and a middle-aged gentleman across the table tangled up in a preflop raising war that left the latter all in for 26,000. When the cards were turned up, it wasn't as exciting as everyone had hoped:

The 
flop looked like it was going to give both men their money back, but not so fast! The turn 
gave Bergeron a sweat, and sure enough, the river filled in his opponent's flush to let him steal that pot. A disenchanted Bergeron caught our eye and he mouthed the words, "All in preflop," just as a reminder. He's down around 10,000 now after granting that double up.
Old Hoivold Up to His Tricks
Action folded to the player on the button and he put in a raise to 2,000. Andreas Hoivold was in the small blind and pushed back with a reraise to 4,500. The big blind got out of the way and the button made the call.
When the flop came down 
, Hoivold fired 5,500 and the button quickly mucked. With that pot, Hoivold is up to around 90,000.
