Lern-ing Some Bad News

In middle position, Matt Affleck opened up a can of worms with a raise. Carlos Watanabe made the call next door, and Tomas Exelhauser called from the small blind too. In the big, Derek Lerner moved all in for another 176,000, sending the decision back to Affleck. He eventually folded, accidentally flashing the {A-Diamonds} in the process, and Watanabe promptly called all in for 173,000. Exelhauser spent a few minutes in the tank before he too called, and the cards were on their backs with both Lerner and Watanabe at risk.

Showdown
Watanabe: {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Exelhauser: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}
Lerner: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

The flop was a good sweat as it came down {10-Spades} {7-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} to leave both all-in players needing to fade the open-ender from Exelhauser. The turn {2-Spades} was safe, and the blank {5-Hearts} river filled out the board to send a big triple up to Watanabe. He's all the way up over 600,000 now, and the side pot gives Lerner just 6,000 lonely chips and a frown to work with.
