Action Underway in Event 7 $1,100 Multi-Flight $300k Guaranteed at PSPC

The second event at the 2024 Pennsylvania State Championship is officially underway. Flight A started yesterday at 11:15 a.m. local time while action will continue today with Flight B, also at 11:15 a.m. local time. Live! Hotel and Casino will be the home of the PSPC, while PokerStars has sponsored the event. The tournament has five Day one flights occurring over the next few days with Day 2 beginning on Sunday, September 1st. Players who make it through the Day 1 flights will all return together for Day 2 and play down until a winner emerges from the pack.

Players will each be starting with 40,000 in chips and blinds will begin at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante. Blinds increase every 40-minutes on Day 1 and every 60-minutes on Day 2. Play for Day 1 flights will conclude once only 12.5% of the field remains.

Late registration is accepted until the end of Level 12, with 15-minute breaks taking place every three levels. Unlimited re-entries are allowed and players may play additional Day 1 flights in an attempt to increase their chip counts. Should a player choose to play multiple Day 1 flights, only the highest qualifying stack will be permitted to continue to Day 2.

Also up for grabs is a Gold Pass to the NAPT Las Vegas Main Event in November. PokerStars will be awarding the winner of the tournament the Gold Pass package, which includes travel, accommodation, and the $5,300 tournament buy-in.

Bogdan Berdej opened the action with a raise to 300 from the button. Both the small blind and big blind players made the call.

Berdej continued for 500 on 7♦8♦9♠ and only the small blind player called.

The turn 2♦ rolled off and Berdej wagered 1,500. His opponent called.

The river 4♦ hit the felt and Berdej sized-up to 4,000 chips. After a minute or two in the tank, the small blind called. Berdej tabled A♦K♦ and it was the winner.

Price's Three-Bet Forces Aces to Fold

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Joseph Cutler raised to 300 under the gun, before Gerald Johnson three-bet to 800 from the cutoff. Donald Price in the small blind called, as did Cutler.

The flop came J♦6♠10♠ and Price led out for a bet of 1,200. Cutler called, before Johnson raised to 4,500, and Price quickly three-bet to 12,200. Cutler folded, and Johnson went into the tank. After nearly a minute in the tank, Johnson painfully tossed AxAx into the muck, giving the pot to Price. After the hand Price showed 6x6x for a set of sixes, to let Johnson know he made a good fold.

Matthew Zambanini raised to 800 under the gun and was called by Bin Weng on the button.

The flop came A♦A♥J♣ and both players checked to the 9♠ on the turn. Zambanini then bet out 700, and Weng made the call.

The river was the 8♥ and Zambanini checked to Weng, who bet out 2,000. Zambanini then raised to 8,000, and Weng made the call.

Zambanini tabled A♠A♣ for quad aces, as Weng tossed his cards into the muck and gave the pot to Zambanini.

Hou Doubles Through Grabel After Action Flop

In a six-way limped pot, under the gun fired 1,200 into the middle on a 10♣8♦7♣ flop. Zhenjie Hou called before Kevin Grabel raised to 4,100 from the small blind. Only Hou called.

Grabel put Hou all in for 18,300 on the 2♥ turn and Hou quickly called.

The river 4♣ hit the felt, completing the full double up for Hou.

Thang Nguyen opened the action with a raise to 800 from early position. Akash Patel three-bet to 2,500 from middle position and action was back on Nguyen. He four-bet to 8,000 before Patel moved all in for over 40,000 chips. Nguyen called all in for less and players went off to a full board.

Action folded to John Machen in the cutoff, and he raised to 1,600. He was called by Joseph Cutler in the small blind, and Nicholas Logue in the big blind.

The flop came A♠10♥7♥ and it checked to Machen, who went all in for 10,100. Cutler folded, and Logue called to put Machen at risk.

Logue made a tough call and was ahead with his pair of tens versus the flush draw of Machen. The 2♦ on the turn gave Machen more outs, but the J♦ on the river meant Logue's pair of tens were still best, and Machen was eliminated.

Sean Lasalle raised to 1,300 under the gun, and was called by a player in the cutoff, before Austen Yuh three-bet to 5,200. Lasalle called, and the cutoff folded.

After the J♠2♣8♦ flop, Lasalle check-called a bet of 3,200 from Yuh.

The turn brought the 3♣ and Lasalle check-called a bet from Yuh again, this time for 11,000.

After river was the 9♣ Lasalle led out for a bet of 13,500, before Yuh raised all in for 34,500. Lasalle tabled A♣Q♣ for the nut flush, and Yuh showed K♣10♣ for the second nut flush as she exited the tournament area.

Dood Finds a Nice Turn and Eliminates Johnson

Action folded to Ryan Dood in the cutoff, and he raised to 1,600. It folded to Gerald Johnson, and he defended the big blind.

After the 3♣2♥3♦ flop, Johnson led out for a bet of 5,000, and Dood made the call.

The turn was the 8♥ and Johnson checked to Dood, who bet out 5,000 again. Johnson then raised all in for 10,000, and Dood called to put Johnson at risk.

Dood jumped in front after spiking an eight on the turn, and after the river could not improve Johnson's hand, he was eliminated from the tournament.

Tri Van limped in from middle position along with the button and small blind. The big blind checked his option.

Van fired 3,000 on 3♣Q♣8♥ and the button player made the call. The small blind moved all in for 25,400 before Van reraised all in for over 100,000 chips. The button player called all in for less and players went three ways to a turn and river.

The turn 3♦ gave the small blind a full house but the river A♣ smacked the felt and Van sucked out to improve to a better full house and eliminate two opponents.
