Pennsylvania State Poker Championship

The second event at the 2024 Pennsylvania State Championship is officially underway. Flight A started yesterday at 11:15 a.m. local time while action will continue today with Flight B, also at 11:15 a.m. local time. Live! Hotel and Casino will be the home of the PSPC, while PokerStars has sponsored the event. The tournament has five Day one flights occurring over the next few days with Day 2 beginning on Sunday, September 1st. Players who make it through the Day 1 flights will all return together for Day 2 and play down until a winner emerges from the pack.

Players will each be starting with 40,000 in chips and blinds will begin at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante. Blinds increase every 40-minutes on Day 1 and every 60-minutes on Day 2. Play for Day 1 flights will conclude once only 12.5% of the field remains.

Late registration is accepted until the end of Level 12, with 15-minute breaks taking place every three levels. Unlimited re-entries are allowed and players may play additional Day 1 flights in an attempt to increase their chip counts. Should a player choose to play multiple Day 1 flights, only the highest qualifying stack will be permitted to continue to Day 2.

Also up for grabs is a Gold Pass to the NAPT Las Vegas Main Event in November. PokerStars will be awarding the winner of the tournament the Gold Pass package, which includes travel, accommodation, and the $5,300 tournament buy-in.

Berdej continued for 500 on 789 and only the small blind player called.

The turn 2 rolled off and Berdej wagered 1,500. His opponent called.

The river 4 hit the felt and Berdej sized-up to 4,000 chips. After a minute or two in the tank, the small blind called. Berdej tabled AK and it was the winner.

Joseph Cutler raised to 300 under the gun, before Gerald Johnson three-bet to 800 from the cutoff. Donald Price in the small blind called, as did Cutler.

The flop came J610 and Price led out for a bet of 1,200. Cutler called, before Johnson raised to 4,500, and Price quickly three-bet to 12,200. Cutler folded, and Johnson went into the tank. After nearly a minute in the tank, Johnson painfully tossed AxAx into the muck, giving the pot to Price. After the hand Price showed 6x6x for a set of sixes, to let Johnson know he made a good fold.
