Mugar Catches Zimmerman Making a Move; "Fantastic Fox" Catches a Miracle
Peter Mugar bet 5,000 from the cutoff on a flop of A♣5♣3♣ and Diane Zimmerman raised to 18,000 in the big blind. Mugar called and the 9♦ fell on the turn.
Zimmerman then bet 23,000 and Mugar again called. The river was the 10♠ and Zimmerman pushed all in for 100,000. Mugar snap-called and turned over 10♣7♣ for a flush, while Zimmerman could only show 4♣4♥ as she headed to the rail.
At the same time at another table, Brett Bassock got his remaining 240,000 in the middle on a flop of 4♠Q♣A♣. "I have queens," Joshua Mammen told him as he put him at risk.
Brett Bassock: A♠Q♥
Joshua Mammen: Q♦Q♠
Bassock had flopped top two pair, but Mammen was ahead with his set. Bassock was drawing only to one of the last two aces in the deck heading to the K♠ turn, and he found his miracle on the A♥ river to make a full house and double.
"Fantastic Fox hits an ace to double," tablemate Javier Zarco said.
