Pasi Sormunen of Finland is no stranger to tournament glory, having racked up five recorded victories in live events, and he will return to Olympic Park Casino in Tallinn today, October 19, at noon local time leading 13 qualifiers for Day 2 of the €3,500 No Limit Hold'em No Filter Legends of the Game event, part of the 2025 No Filter Poker Series Nordic & Baltic Championship Open. (All figures courtesy of The Hendon Mob).
The event attracted a total of 101 entrants, creating a €323,301 prize pool. Play in Day 1 concluded after the bubble burst, with 13 places paid. The remaining players have locked up a minimum cash of €7,050, but all will have their sights firmly locked on the €85,400 first-place prize.
Remarkably, over half the Day 2 field hail from Finland, a nation which consistently punches above its weight on the poker stage, with Sormunen (2,025,000) leading from his fellow countryman Pasi Laihinen (1,590,000), while Duncan Horst of the United States (1,230,000) rounds out the podium places.
The event offered the opportunity for players to go to war against genuine legends of the game, with reigning World Champion Michael Mizrachi, 1998 Main Event winner Scotty Nguyen and two-time bracelet winner Juha Helppi all in the field. Unfortunately none of the legends would manage to make the Day 2 cut, but they will no doubt be back to try their luck in the Main Event and other tournaments in the packed schedule.
